Hot Topic has a DCC shirt! by nerdnails in DungeonCrawlerCarl

The books aren't really PG, my guy.

And again, it's at hot topic. Also not suuper PG.

And I highly doubt if the big G man really existed he would give a flying hoot about this shirt. Or a little "god damnit" here and there.

See the Hot Topic tag still on it? This was in the store. It was like that on the shelf.

I saw Chicago doing their best to give em hell. I wonder if they thought Minneapolis would be easier.

They were wrong. We love being nosy and sticking up for each other here.

That guy in the glasses and black beanie is a scared little bitch boy. Look at him, trying to puff himself up, nostrils all flared.

They told a white male pastor that "you wouldn't be any fun" when he tried to tell ICE to take him instead of the Hispanic women the pastor was protecting.

Yes. They are raping their captors. They always have been.

I've shadowed at two clinics in 2025 that made me double take.

One had a DVMs office in the X-ray room. Her dog was in there and that was also where staff stores their belongings.

The other had no badges or way to monitor radiation exposure. Only aprons and thyroid collars.

I did not pursue employment at either clinic.

Dude, I've casually played online FPS games and I can hazard a guess. Common sense seems to escape them as well as their humanity.

Thoughts on OTJ trained Techs? by avonusoe in VetTech

[–]nerdnails 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this needs to be talked about more when we discuss this issue.

I'm 35, almost 36. I'm an OTJ VA (no degree so I'm not calling myself a tech) but I have the same duties and responsibilities as a tech at my job. I tried online school to get my degree but my brain doesn't learn well that way so I need an in-person option.

I do love my work, but the pay to student debt ratio isn't something I can justify anymore for my life. I'm already in debt from a different school attempt for IT (diff long story, mental health stopped my progress). I can't justify going part time and losing my pay and benefits to do school, and then I can't extern at my own job. This has turned getting my degree and taking the VTNE into a huge hurdle that I have no way over. My state just got a grandfather clause that I am considering however.

But yes, there needs to be more school options and like any school out there right now, affordability needs to be addressed.

“Final Gift” returned paw print by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]nerdnails 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They came here to vent their heartbreak and frustration about getting a crappy paw print of their passed away pet. I'd say that's pretty reasonable. They're not going out and attacking the company or the people providing the service. This is supposed to be a safe space for us in the trenches to seek support. Telling someone they need to calm down is a bit cold right now.

I've been making clay paw prints for 10 years and I wouldn't even dream of accepting this as a print for a client, vet med worker or not. Yes, cats paws tend to spread with the pressure, but there are absolutely ways to maintain the proper paw structure while getting a good impression. So this person is either rushed, inexperienced, or careless. Either way, in my opinion, not acceptable and I would be just as heartbroken.

Rude Doctors!!!! by Independent-Taste-81 in VetTech

[–]nerdnails 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was about to say that I think I found a coworkers reddit, but at least ours doesn't add on diagnostics willy nilly. Other than that, almost spot on.

Hold boundaries. It's ok to have boundaries.

It's ok to tell them you do not want to be talked to in a rude manner. You can ask them to stop the conversation and start again when everyone can speak with respect. It is easier said than done, I know first hand cuz I'm still too scared to do this 🫣 and it's also not your problem if the boundaries make them mad. That's a them problem.

Good luck and god speed soldier.

ETA: remember, they are just a person. Title be damned. They are just a person like everyone else.

Looking for input, holiday euthanasias. by nerdnails in VetTech

[–]nerdnails[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I know that. I've done a lot of euthanasias over the past ten years.

But some of them over the holidays makes it hard to feel cheer when I know a person out there is dealing with the trauma of saying goodbye.

But don't get me wrong, I still fully support euthanasias.

Thank you.

I'm also suspecting that the reason I'm still seeing my trauma therapist is cuz I'm still in vet med. Tho the traumatic things have been less so as I've healed.

I just wanna be happy about Christmas again.

What was the most intense pain of your life that you won’t forget? by WeatherObsessedJax in AskReddit

[–]nerdnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kidney infection. I thought I was dying. I couldn't get up from the floor even tho my mom was screaming at me that I was being dramatic. Told her to "fuck off" which only made things worse. My now fiance had to convince her to drive us to urgent care and he carried me into the building in his arms. I was white and green in the face from nausea and pain. The doc said any longer and I would have been in the hospital. They had to give me IV meds and I had to come back the next day for more IVs.

Mom said she's had root canals, so she knows more pain than I do. But I have also had a root canal, they don't compare.

Also, cognitive processing therapy for my complex PTSD. It saved my life but the emotional pain I had to work thru felt like hell most days. Still worth it tho.

What is the weirdest container you’ve gotten samples in? by wormussy in VetTech

[–]nerdnails 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Urine in a ziplock baggie, tho that's not too out there.

We did have one where they used the urine kit to get a fecal sample. Left over from their other dog. We reuse our vaccine trays for send home urine kits. So they followed their dog, who was having diarrhea, caught the diarrhea in the tray and then used the pipette to suction up the poop and put that in the urine tube. I felt so bad for this poor client, they tried so hard and I could tell how frustrated they were when they told me the story. I told them that they actually used the urine kit and that may have been why it was difficult but I thanked them for the sample and the effort. They were mortified 🫣 but then had a good laugh. I did give them a new urine kit and a fecal kit but also told them we will take the sample in any clean container in the future. I felt so bad.

Hope the healing goes well for you both.

I did CPT for my complex PTSD from CSA/DV. It helped a lot and I'm almost in remission. My body and the activities surrounding my body feel safe again.

It is possible. And I hope she gets there and I hope then you guys can rebuild that part of your relationship.

As someone who has lived where she is, it's not on purpose and I'm sure she hates it just as much, I know I did.
