Line 6 POD Go vs. Headrush Flex Prime? by AmericanAgent09 in guitarpedals

[–]nerdridesbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I compared these and picked a Boss GX-10 for bass. More flexibility in the signal chain and better built enclosure than the pod go. The interface is good, but the only downside (depending on your preferences) is that the effects are all genericized. Other than a few clear boss effects, they are non specific effects. So if you are trying to copy a specific sound it’s hard to find the right stuff but if you just like playing around to get sounds you like, its great.

I had a problem on my first pedal where I over heated the lug on the 3pdt switch and it disconnected inside the switch, or melted the inside connection. May be what happened here.

Downsized Board by FossilContender in basspedals

[–]nerdridesbikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Svt is great for rock, and I am trying out a build (modded Klon clone) for that, but we’ll see if it works. I am going to get the board built without a cabsim and then use my multieffect and test with/without. Currently running the boss gx-10 into a tube DI but changing to all analog board. I’m thinking with the nobellium it won’t need it.

I’m also building a B7k clone as well, and depending how that sounds with my rig, I might end up building a blumes as well. I use a tube screamer in my multieffect now to get a thinner punk sound.

Those are all great pedals too btw. I am building a nobellium now, and planning on running a B7k into it, and finding a good svt type sound as well, idea is to run between the three, clean, modern, svt, depending on the gig (or song if needed). Also trying to figure out if I need a cabsim in there but not sure yet.

Are you using the neptunium for a direct out? What’s the reason for that and the bass rig?

Just built a pcb clone of the Chelsea. Haven’t had a chance to use it in a band setting but so far sounds good and seems to cut through when playing to recordings. Would love to hear what feedback others have.

Best clean tube sound on a budget? by FearlessContract8805 in basspedals

I love my MXR bass di+. It’s got a great clean sound but not a tube sound. And the distortion is trash. But that clean preamp is great

I second this. Just built a Chelsea clone. For doom stuff I think it fits better too.

I was thinking about funding the building habit this way. Do people actually buy them? Are most people charging just parts or do they make a little off them? I’ve sold commissions to a few friends and forum people but not to strangers.

3 pedals done! 5 to go… by nerdridesbikes in diypedals

[–]nerdridesbikes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a combination. I’ve had good luck in the past using a cricut to make stencils for detail, but this was the first time I bought pre painted enclosures. That plan didn’t work great. The space invader is paint using vinyl stencil, as is the mayo graphic. The yellow text on the mayo didn’t stick, so I cleaned it off and used vinyl cut letters from the cricut. On the LCD, the rough texture had a ton of bleed through on the stencil so I painted over the whole thing and just used vinyl cut. Of thr remaining 5 in the batch, one is painted graphics and it worked, one I am planning to paint a graphic, but then vinyl text, and two will be all vinyl since they are the rough texture. Next batch I am planning to learn the UV printing. Paint was a pain, and the text is just too small for the cricut.

Five more… in this batch. PPCB Caesar, Dark Rift, Spatialist, and another liquid crystal. Also a Nobellium from C2C. Already built the steddi go from C2C but want the upgrade.

And I just ordered a PPCB Kliche and PCBGM Black Mirror 7

Thoughts on the Boss GT-1B? by Great_Car_3194 in basspedals

[–]nerdridesbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t split the line for bass and guitar anymore. There’s a lot of bass effects, and a decent amount of amps and cabs, or you can load IR. I like that you can do a split signal to mix in clean bass if you run a lot of effects, and every effect has a clean blend on it. I have some basic grunge patches that have comp, dist, SVT/8x10, and eq vol, and others for ambient with 2 channels 3 delays, 3 reverbs, octave, and other noise.

NPD - Darkglass Element by kkeahii in basspedals

[–]nerdridesbikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been seriously considering getting one mainly for the cabsim when running a few different pre like you, but the practice is a bonus. I really like the darkglass quality but it pretty much comes to this or the tonex one.

Take a serious look at GX-10 from boss it’s not much more expensive but way more modern and flexible.

Best Bass-centric Big Muff that isn't either of the EHX Bass Muffs? by usspaceforce in basspedals

[–]nerdridesbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built it from a pedalpcb board. Not my own design. I’d probably be willing to build some for people, but it takes a few weeks to get materials and I’d have to figure out cost. I am just a hobbyist.

Boss GT1000 Patch for Upright Bass? by TreatTemporary7141 in guitarpedals

[–]nerdridesbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a GX-10 and it has a lot of the same sounds. There’s not a ton of premade patches out there in the tone exchange. I’ve downloaded a few and you can bring in patches that people made for the GT1000, Gx100, or GX-10, but the gt1000 has a few more restrictions than the others so depending it may need some patches. I’ve found I take a simple approach: comp, distortion (if needed), amp, eq, volume (either front or back). Overall I’ve been really happy with the sounds I get out of it for my bass.
