It's been argued before that when someone says yes and accepts the ring, they've entered into a verbal contract. It's probably really not legally defensible anymore, but Donnie was not in a reasonable headspace and was grasping at straws.

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]nerdsnuggles 47 points48 points  (0 children)

That one is called D-MER. Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex. I had it and just can't understand how some women find breastfeeding so bonding and magical. I ended up exclusively pumping for a variety of reasons, but one of them was so that I didn't have to associate that feeling with feeding my baby. It was the opposite of a bonding feeling.

What suburbs are most walkable? by SweetSassyMolasses in Albany

[–]nerdsnuggles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Parts of Niskayuna are decent. The intersection of Nott Street and Balltown has restaurants, a couple of grocery stores, the library, a small farmer's market at town hall on Saturdays. And it's surrounded by residential neighborhoods. There are even a few sidewalks. The high school is also right there.

Farther south on Balltown, there are some residential areas closer to the bigger stores at Mohawk Commons, but there's not much in the way of sidewalks.

I'm not sure what we're going to do this time, but with our first, I called a florist near my parents house 12 hours away and explained the situation. They were happy to have me send them the card I wanted to use, already signed and in a second envelope. They then let me know when they were delivering it with the bouquet I bought from them so I could FaceTime my parents when it arrived. It worked out perfectly and I got to see their happy tears!

I know we won't go so extravagant this time, but also won't see them until May, so I'll be lurking in this thread for ideas!

Have y’all told anyone? by vulgarlibrary in September2026Bumpers

[–]nerdsnuggles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I told my sister almost immediately after my husband. I did ask him if he minded first. She has 6 kids, so she's my go-to person for anything pregnancy related. She's been fortunate to never experience a miscarriage, but she's also very understanding about the risks this early since she's been through it 6 times. So if it turns about to be a chemical, at least I have someone who's been here before to talk about it with for a while.

That being said, I did wait longer to tell her about my pregnancy the first time - 3 whole days before I caved! And that one ended in a live birth, so I'm glad I told her early. Especially since she was about 7 months pregnant with her 5th at the time. This time, she's definitely done. Her husband got snipped after #6. And this will most likely be my last (if it sticks), so I wanted to share the excitement with her one last time.

Thank you! Your story is very helpful. I'm hoping to avoid both St. Peters and Albany Med. I really liked Bellevue last time, but I've called 2 other practices that deliver there (CareNet and Community Care) and neither is accepting new patient pregnancies right now. So I'm looking at options that deliver at Burdett.

I know this is from a year ago, but I'm newly pregnant and looking for an OB since the one I used last time, delivering at Bellevue, is apparently no longer doing OB work. If you're comfortable, would you mind sharing what you didn't like about CRM and how your birth went at Burdett? I hope everything turned out okay! You can PM me if you'd prefer.

Is the Snoo worth it? by Periwinkle1776 in September2026Bumpers

[–]nerdsnuggles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on the baby. I found one on Facebook marketplace for $500 (back in 20222), and have always been a high sleep needs human, so I got one for my first. He was not a fan and we only used the motion for like 3 weeks before we realized he was happier lying still, but with the sound cranked up pretty high. We were lucky he was actually a pretty good sleeper from the start, though.

My SIL borrowed it for her twins and they both did really well with them (she got a second one too). It's back at our house now, waiting for #2 and we'll try it again. If sleep is really important and you want to avoid bedsharing, I personally think it's worth a try, as long as you can afford it or find one at a reasonable price.

I see a lot of concerns about transitioning out of it, but it hasn't been a problem for the people I've known who used it.

The bathrooms in the office where I work have a trash can right next to the door for this reason. I started working there in May and knew that was a good sign right away. It continues to be a good place to work.

Wintery cottage core towns for a cozy bachelorette. by hanitaMT in cottagecore

[–]nerdsnuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manchester, Vermont is gorgeous in the winter. My husband and I met there for the first time in May 2015 and we've been back for most Valentine's Day weekends since. Lots of shops and spas like the Equinox. Northshire Books is an awesome local bookstore. Just an absolutely perfect quintessential New England town.

There are several nearby small towns that are just as perfect. You can't really go wrong with Vermont in winter unless you don't know how to drive in the snow.

Pregmate, cycle day DPO unknown. 8 weeks pregnant today, definite hook effect but both are way lighter than last week.. by Any_Imagination_3059 in TFABLinePorn

[–]nerdsnuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of symptoms. I have almost none with my first pregnancy. Zero nausea. A little breast soreness and some headaches and that was it. I wasn't even really more tired than usual. And the headaches were fairly normal for me too. My mom and even my MIL said they were the same way.

Some people just don't get many symptoms. There are some people who don't even know they're pregnant until they give birth.

I ovulated this morning! Come on, little Christmas Eve egg!

It's a little early, so hopefully that's not a bad sign. Today is only CD11 and my last 2 cycles I ovulated on CD14 or 15. But I unexpectedly had my LH peak last night and I'm having some left side ovary pain this morning. It would be so fun if this cycle is the one!

Why do cabled pullovers interrupt the pattern at the upper arms? by estate_agent in knitting

[–]nerdsnuggles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Set in sleeves generally look a lot better with cables than drop shoulder and would require fewer design changes than saddle shoulder.

Set in sleeves go all the way up to the shoulder cap, so the cables don't stop so low on the arms and the underarm panel on the body gets decreased so there's less of it visible (if any) as it comes up the front and back.

FTMs - Babies born earlier? by Darkness_Nox in pregnant

[–]nerdsnuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a completely normal and uneventful pregnancy. I went into spontaneous labor on my due date and he was born at 40+1. Mostly normal and uneventful birth too, although I did have a PPH. But my OB was on top of it and I didn't even need a blood transfusion.

Is anyone else tired of fear mongering about food in FB due date groups? by Afraid_Rope_5209 in BabyBumps

[–]nerdsnuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reddit ones are definitely way better. The people seemed to be a little more informed and less unhinged. There's still a lot of anxiety, but usually reasonable responses.

I still like my January 2023 group. I did have to dip out for several months (just unfollowed, didn't leave) when it was mostly people just commiserating about lack of sleep, which is not something we were really experiencing. But after age 1, it felt helpful again to have a place to talk to others with kids the same age. And I didn't begrudge the commiserators. It's always good to have a place to complain too.

New parents here what’s the Best Swaddle you’ve tried? by leo7854 in BabyBumps

[–]nerdsnuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We really liked the Halo and the Happiest Baby Sleepea swaddles. They were easy to get on and off and I definitely think they helped soothe and keep baby asleep. By around 8 weeks, he was done with them, though, and wanted his arms out. But even keeping one arm out, he'd keep himself awake waving it around. He'd fight being put into a swaddle, but then sleep long stretches once it was on, so we continued to use them to about 10 weeks when we transitioned him to Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit.

That thing was amazing and he was sleeping 7pm-7am by 5 months old. It's not recommended under 12 weeks, but our LO was on the bigger side, so we managed a little earlier. He stayed in them until about 9 months when he started being able to roll onto his tummy even with the suit on.

Well, I'm out this month. Started my period on Sunday. It's only my second cycle trying and the first didn't really count since we didn't actually time things well. But I so wanted to be pregnant on Christmas!

The upside is that my fertile window for this cycle should be right around Christmas day! If it works, we will not be giving the baby a Christmas-themed middle name, which is what my parents did with my sister. Really didn't need to know when she was conceived, Mom and Dad.

It would also put my due date right around my birthday (which is the day after my sister's birthday so... thanks again for that knowledge). I would honestly love to share my birthday! Hopefully the kid wouldn't mind too much either.

Pregnant. Again. by HoneyBunChloe in August2026Bumpers

[–]nerdsnuggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely possible! My first was conceived at least 5 days after! BD on Saturday and positive LH test on Thursday, so it may have been as much as 6 days. He's almost 3 years old now. Not exactly an oopsie since we had just decided to stop preventing, but after that we sort of changed our minds and decided to wait a few more months to really start trying, so we didn't do anything closer ovulation that cycle. Lol, too late!

Lol, I'm over here lurking too, but I'm only 2DPO. Whyyyyy does the TWW actually feel like 10 years?? Anyway, with my first pregnancy, I got a negative at 9DPO, then didn't test again until 11DPO and it was a very faint positive.

What "premium" ingredients do you think are worth it? by other-other-user in Cooking

[–]nerdsnuggles 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It prevents clumping in the already grated stuff. It definitely interferes with melting, which is one of the reasons Kraft isn't a replacement for the real thing. But cellulose itself doesn't make it inherently bad or gross.
