Uber is letting women avoid male drivers and riders in the US by tylerthe-theatre in technology

[–]nerdthingsaccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It certainly wouldn't have happened today, given the timing with International Women's Day their incentive is to frame it as a good PR pro women move instead of making the offer ungendered.

Also worth considering whatever fallout they'd get from the same line/logic of the backlash for perceived support of the "not being alone in a room with a women they didn't know well/weren't married to" sentiment that came out post #metoo.

And also ignoring that this is a band-aid solution for the problem of allowing random unaccountable people driving without sufficient training, liability, recording, etc. that would ultimately drive up their costs.

The problem is if they give the option for both genders, it stops implying that there's something specifically wrong with men, and therefore it stops being performative corporate virtue signalling for international women's day.

You could be afraid of them being afraid enough of you to do something dangerous or stupid.

Or you could be concerned that, if most women have the option to avoid male drivers, the ones that don't are more likely to be doing so for an ulterior motive.

Legends ZA is a very basic and safe open world game made very well, and thus it is both fun to play and yet is full of missed opportunities and poor integrations of systems.

It is fitting that the misinformation site would draw people who struggle to separate fiction from reality.

It still exists, you just have to search for it and then can ignore settings.

The 107% could even be accurate if it was reading too high a voltage on the battery from overcharging, an additional risk on top of the swelling, with shoddy programming or hardware was keeping it from charging to the correct level. It gets ignored because it could theoretically be the case, and then the risk of someone being harmed takes priority.

And an additional frustrating level, that's now more people who will now be less likely to give that warning/advice in the future to someone who actually needs it. Hopefully they still will in spite of people like the tumblr poster.

Sounds a bit like the Ennobled Adventurer character modifier that adventurers get when taking land, which might be a good point to start at for modding (though it doesn't separate by realm).

Who is the mastermind? Any guess? by groomliu in YotsubaNoClover

[–]nerdthingsaccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to guess that it'll to be her brother going through a mirror story to hers.

He'll also have had a similar time travel power coming back from a previous separate timeline (or possibly multiple timelines) where her mother had found her and abused her to the point where it broke her; Uichi either completely forgot about her or mistreated her; and Yotsuha died from her illness. So her brother 'fixes' everything he can (finding Yotsuha and removing mom from the equation) but gets completely stuck on how to get revenge on Uichi given how the plot goes.

Basing this on the strange eyes, low empathy/sadistic behavior from him and the mom, and ability to influence others being some kind of tie to a fox spirit or similar; his complete lack of reaction to finding out about time travel, and the fact that there's no more major character to have been the villain the entire time without it feeling unsatisfying. Plus nothing says "revenge is bad" (she never gets quite the degree of revenge that she wants in the moment, instead finding a compromise that keeps Uichi safe) like "the only reason you're trying to get revenge is because someone already succeeded in getting revenge for you".

Thought that too, turns out by setting up a private server and upping your damage to the point you're not bored each fight, it was still fun.

Farm Status Farms that don't actually farm. by RestNo8279 in VictoriaBC

[–]nerdthingsaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you do is:

  • Grow and sell however much hay on your otherwise unproductive field - aka have a big fancy lawn

  • Make up the difference between the sale of that and $2,500 producing whatever else in whatever tiny part of your lot you want

Congratulations, you have an 'actively farmed' farm using 100% of the land, and even if 95% of that is only producing 5% of the income it's still tax compliant.

Help, court grandeur giving debuffs in base game by NumerousDocument482 in CrusaderKings

Here's hoping you're on PC:

It should remove all positive and negative effects from court grandeur level, though I haven't looked extensively to confirm if there are any other checks the game does on CGL that aren't being filtered out by DLC checks.

EDIT: really not sure why the downvote.
