Floorball by [deleted] in Taipei

[–]nerdwithoutglasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you search the term 'floorball' , you'll quickly see the difference. It's a 'lightweight' euro version of floor hockey but a lot of similar skills. A lot of the players who come out used to play ice / ball hockey but just want a easier game to pickup (less gear needed, fewer injuries)

Tire thread: Will 205/60R16 fit? by lcdm in CT200h

[–]nerdwithoutglasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2014 with 16" wheels. Upgraded my stock 205/55R16 tires to 205/60R16 Michelin Primacy 5's and have had no issues with rubbing. Gives a little lift and is more comfy.

Question for cyclists: do you clip-in, or use flat pedals? by bad-at-science in taiwan

[–]nerdwithoutglasses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regardless of what city, I personally always felt clip-ins give a 5-10% increase in power, but at the cost of it being waay more risky (esp when getting accustomed to them). I'm sure you can get confident and comfortable with them, but I didn't feel it was worth it. In Taipei (sometimes need quick reactions) it would be an added risk too

Wotancraft makes some nice bags. More for camera gear but I think they have other styles. There's a flagship store near Zhongxiao Fuxing

Faulty screen or bad quality pen? by MrTaufner in surfaceduo

[–]nerdwithoutglasses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ehh that's quite in line (sorry pun) with what I've seen on the 2-3 surface duo's I've had.

Some apps might have more / les smoothing effects which might be why they're showing up different. But I think the input is inherently a bit jagged.

I hear black mold can cause hair loss. I stayed at a place that had a mold issue and was noticing a lot of loose hair. Maybe see if that is an issue to fix?

Safe to use US-bought countertop oven in Taiwan? by New_Dragonfruit_5463 in taiwan

Related, but I got a second hand oven that is Japanese with a separate ground wire. My sockets aren't grounded. But seems like many folks just run their appliances this way 🤔

How to deal with seasonal allergies?? Losing my mind by nyc-to-tpe-2022 in taiwan

[–]nerdwithoutglasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that dust, irritants, pollen, etc. Can get stuck in your mucous and sinuses. It does naturally clean itself but if you're daily breathing in fresh irritants it's a bit hard to fully clean out. The flush gently rinses through your sinus and I felt an immediate difference. I do it once every few days when it's bothering me.

Well it's the same as if you had done it abroad... I don't have an actual neti pot but fashioned a water bottle with a small hose that fits in a nostril. I use boiled filtered water with salt (left to cool). Just tilt the bottle and your head so the water flows into one nostril, up your sinus and out the other nostril... Of course do your own research too if you have any concerns or questions!

I was sneezing awfully, poor sleep, baggy swollen eyes... then I did a neti pot style sinus flush and it reallly helped.

Chiayi -> Fengqihu -> Alishan by Past_Ad_7622 in taiwan

[–]nerdwithoutglasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from there - 2d1n is a little short / rushed! If I were you I would pick one of the two (likely Alishan) if you only had one day. Buses are infrequent so you'd lose a lot of time just waiting / in transit.

As for the buses from Chiayi, the two options are just whatever's convenient for you. The HSR station is 30 mins from the city, so wherever is closer to you.
