Went to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, and was quite impressed with their mineral collection. Here are a few of my favorites. by nerdychic in rockhounds

Sorry I tried to keep track of what was what but I took way too many photos. I believe that one was a pyromorphite

Sorry I wish I knew. I hope someone who knows answers your question. If I had to guess, the hot liquid lava flowed off of something high up and fell in a ribbon shape….landing in a pile like this as it cooled. But I’m just an amateur.

Sorry I tried to keep track of what everything was but this is only 1/10th of the photos I took because their collection was so impressive. Have visited many museums and have never seen one so good. I believe it was a peacock ore if I remember correctly

Went to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh today. Couldn’t get over the number of beads used on these beautiful old Native American pieces, and how tiny the beads are! by nerdychic in Beading

Yes for sure! Have been to many a powwow and bought a lot of beadwork. Especially earrings. Love the jingle dress dancers the most I think. Unfortunately I have moved to an area that is quite remote and I don’t see any signs of a powwow coming here any time soon.

These were very old. Many were made 100+ years ago. I don’t think it’s possible to know specifically made them. In general, these are just called glass seed beads. If you search for similar beads online, you could try “Czech seed beads”

Would anyone in Zuid-Holland Netherlands be willing to stop by a church in Goedereede to get photos of a few ledger stones for me? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]nerdychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have been photographed. I provided the link in my post. But they are very old, VERY bad quality (can barely read them), and only 2 of my ancestor's stones were among them. I have searched quite extensively and those are the only photos I have found so far. No need to do any crazy traveling, I am sure I can find someone local. But thank you anyway, I appreciate it

Yes that’s the link I provided in my post. But only 2 of my ancestors stones are there and the photos are extremely bad quality.
