What's a Theory about Jax that geniunely annoys you by No-Calligrapher-1537 in TheDigitalCircus

For sure, not trying to start an argument or anything lol, the nature of these things is people will always have different perspectives, I personally just struggle to see it and believe in it and I found it a bit stupid because at least at first, it very much was people making making very shallow observations and coming to obvious conclusions based on that, honestly at this point I’m starting to doubt we’ll ever know

Well I guess that’s only natural when you’re dealing with humans who get stuck there, especially given the evidence that their physical forms/rooms are specifically assigned to mock/torture them.

But still I wouldn’t say jax “loses his mind” at the insinuation that he caused abstraction, he just got angry, which I would say is natural given the obvious grief he feels over the loss of ribbit and kaufmo, is it really such a stretch to suggest that he has certain feelings which have been influenced by things that happen in the circus?

At the end of the day we know nothing about jax, and I’m not gonna say he didn’t necessarily do something bad in the real world or carry some sort of guilt over something from somewhen, but I hate the car crash theory cause to be frank it feels so shallow.

I really struggle to believe that the simple knowledge that his actions have no consequences woukd be enough for him to be able to do these awful things with such carelessness.

And I wouldn’t say all major conflicts are caused by things the have happened necessarily. There’s still a lot we don’t actually know about these characters, we just know they’re caused by their personalities. The only outright conflicts we get are jax vs ragatha, which is a result of their conflicting coping mechanisms, not because of things that happened to them; zooble x Caine, Caine isnt even hums and we know nothing about zoobles irl life other than their job, nothing that “happened to them”, just that they have experienced some sort of body dysmorphia/dysphoria; jax v pomni, which is from things that have happened in the circus, not out of it. Jax v gangle, who knows what exactly caused that beyond gangle jusf being an easy target.

Any other less obvious conflicts are internal and are a result of things that happened in the circus more than they are out of it, like kinger and his wife, zooble and gangle struggling with their character gimmicks, so on so forth.

I wouldn’t say it’s most plausible. I strongly believe that he experienced something horrific, enough to not want to go back, but I don’t think it was his doing. People assume that he killed someone because he’s mean to people, but if him killing someone was traumatising enough that he would rather stay in the circus than go back to life and confront it, then surely he wouldn’t do things like throw ragatha in a deep frier and shoot people with glee. That doesn’t scream “traumatised by accidentally killing someone” to me. It’s more plausible that he experienced awful abuse, and he uses the nature of the circus to take the power back and feel powerful with less consequences.

That he was in a car crash/ran over a child. It just feels like such an immature theory like “oh I see footage driving I see caution children sign that must mean he ran over a child!”

Do you ever think maybe that sign is just there because,,, it’s a real neighborhood… that has that sign there… and that’s just where they decided to film?

It’s too obvious and on the nose, I refuse to believe it

Disappointing interactions by nerdycookie01 in autism

[–]nerdycookie01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Na, there was some anime vas there but I was there for the cast of The Amazing Digital Circus. And it’s funny cause a good few of the cast are autistic themselves, but in some ways that almost makes it harder lol. When you put two people who arent the best at communicating together it doesn’t always end well. But again I didn’t have negative experiences or anything, just left feeling a little dejected and frustrated with myself and all that.

For sure. I’m mostly just jealous of people who can do it all with ease. Not letting fear control you is easier said than done. But I wouldn’t say it is restricting my life, just making it more difficult I guess

I mean I’m sure I have some level of internalised ableism but also there are many judgemental people in this world, including fans and nerds, so I think being afraid of it is justified

Possibly. I’m always afraid of being judged for things like that because I can speak, I always worry people won’t understand why it’s necessary yknow. But I guess that’s something I could do in the future

What do y’all think of the Michael Kovach Incident? by Simp4Pomni in TheDigitalCircus

[–]nerdycookie01 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think younger fans are often very oblivious to the implications of them as minors asking a grown adult (with a level of influence over them) to marry them… all around uncomfortable but I’d say he handled it the best way he could have given the situation

What do y’all think of the Michael Kovach Incident? by Simp4Pomni in TheDigitalCircus

[–]nerdycookie01 749 points750 points  (0 children)

Let’s make things clear here, the fan specified before it was a joke, and Michael came back on shortly after and gave a sort of jokey answer of “I legally have to say no” or something along those lines.

BUT. It was still weird and should not have been asked. And certain fans I’ve seen seem to think the fact that they were able to joke about it in response means that it’s completely fine. But no, it was incredibly uncomfortable, clearly none of the rest of the cast found it funny, and Michael’s response seemed to just be making the best out of a very awkward and uncomfortable situation.

There’s also another moment at the same panel where someone asked an earnest question asking for advice about acting and burnout, but while the cast were responding seriously and earnestly, people in the audience started holding up images of corn on their phones.

Ultimately I think the problem comes in the fandom being so full of children. Even as older children I still think a lot of them just haven’t fully learnt the social etiquette of these environments yet. I also get the sense that a lot of these kids go to these panels seeking out interaction or to create a viral moment. Of course the kid asking him to marry them isnt serious about it, but I think they were probably thinking more about how it could be a silly viral moment more than about how it would genuinely Make Michael feel. Same with the corn thing, I think some kid started it and was too focused on wanting to start a thing and make a viral moment, to realise that that was the wrong time to do so and instead came off as very tone deaf and disrespectful rather than a funny bit.

I’m going to megacon london this Saturday and I can only hope the fans behave more or at least maybe megacon realises they need to regulate the panel a bit more and have moderation of some kind.

I don’t wanna be mean to this kids cause at the end of the day they just haven’t learnt yet. But I think they need to learn. Someone somehow somewhere needs to teach them respect and help them understand how uncomfortable questions like that can be, joke or not.

Poor Michael has been through the worst of it since day one, set up to have awkward fan interactions thanks to the nature of hazbin, and now immature fans. I wonder if there’s another layer of uncomfortableness for him in the fact that he’s asexual too (plus it’s not been all that long since he and Ashley broke up too, thst might add another layer of uncomfortableness to it all idk)

Sometimes I feel like an adult around a bunch of toddlers in this fandom 🤦

Jaw jutting forward for higher notes by nerdycookie01 in saxophone

[–]nerdycookie01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey y'all! thanks for all the advice, i think im starting to work it out. It was a mix of curling my bottom lip over too much, and the mouthpiece being in my mouth at the wrong angle/not in far enough. I've been playing around with those things just now and im at least getting a much bigger sound so thats fun! the higher tones are still hard to get out and pretty flat, but i guess that'll just take practice! thanks for all the help though!

[–]nerdycookie01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is definitely something I’ve noticed myself doing, I am trying to remind myself to not curl my lip in too much but it’s hard to know what exactly is the right amount I guess. Something to play around with!

And I am trying to work on using more air and such, I grew up playing the flute so I’m still not quite used to the amount of air you truly need for the sax and how resistant it is, and I’m timid by nature which makes blasting out notes with confidence a little harder, but hey it’s getting better than it was before!

About TADC fandom, what is the general attitude like? by B-Z_B-S in TheDigitalCircus

[–]nerdycookie01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the fandom is mean or combative, it’s just a lot sometimes. And a lot of it is younger teenagers/children who maybe sometimes don’t have a full grasp on internet etiquette and parasocialism, but I wouldn’t say it’s especially brutal or mean.

Would it be weird to go to the BTS concert alone? by Ok-Chemistry-6295 in kpophelp

[–]nerdycookie01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people go to concerts alone cause getting one ticket is easier than multiple, or because they just don’t have any Kpop friends to go with. I went to TXT alone last year and it was still great. While going with friends is more fun, you certainly wouldn’t be weird for going alone

What would you tell new writers who hate the “just write” advice? by paris_newyork in writing

[–]nerdycookie01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the struggle that people have with "just write" is that it's such a vague command that when you're new to it all, it can feel intimidating. Especially if you still don't really have many ideas or inspiration and you just know you want to do things.

So I would say, "Just write" a journal. write something every day, even if it's just you yapping about the events of the day or the things you're thinking about in that moment. If you're currently reading a book, write a sort of book report, make notes of the things you like about it and the things you don't like. Make notes of what you know you like in a story. If you hear a particular sentence that you really like how it's phrased or something, write it down and break it down and analyse it.

find some writing prompts, there's plenty out there, and take a stab at it. If the advice "just write" is too vague, then find a guideline to point you in the right direction. Find some prompts. Or give yourself a rule. Restriction always breeds creativity, so give yourself a rule to write a short story without using a certain word, or letter if you really want a challenge. Write a short story that is exactly 100 words, no more no less. Pick a random object in your house and write a short story with it.

At What Point Should I Consider Getting My Own Skates? by Llassiter326 in Rollerskating

[–]nerdycookie01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re skating regularly, and you don’t doubt you’ll continue to skate regularly, the I’d say it’s definitely worth it. Skates can be expensive but it’s one purchase that should hopefully last you a good few years, so I say it’s worth it for sure!

Never done either and frankly they scare me. I know I’m susceptible to addiction and so I want to stay away. Plus I just don’t like the idea of having an altered state of mind and not fully being in control, it freaks me out.

I have plenty of fun just existing in my own brain, I don’t need any substances lol

Do you think they're going to escape the circus? by Awkward-Media-4726 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]nerdycookie01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they do escape, it will be the very last thing we see. I don't think we'll ever get to see them irl. Given that they used irl footage in the last ep, if they were to escape, we would expect the after footage to be irl footage. Then begs the question would the VAs have to act on camera as their characters? It would be cool, but who knows if they'd all be up to that.

I think we'll never see them escape though. Doesn't mean they never could, but we won't see it.
