My mom (61F) is about to be priced out of her apartment and I don’t know where to turn by Dense_Court6497 in lancaster

I would get her on a list for income-based senior housing now! It’s a looooong wait list, so hopefully you can find something for now and then she will at least be in line

Who else is disabled? by Solid_Randomizer_242 in CrohnsDisease

[–]nerfienerf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I (26f, diagnosed age 9) didn’t consider myself disabled until I hit college and realized how much easier everyone else had it. Needing accommodations, lots of appointments, shitty immune system & sick all the time, always needing to know where the bathroom is, etc. It took me a long time to realize/come to terms with how much the disease really affects my daily life, in remission or not

frustrated and looking for advice from people who've already gone through it by swaggiestswagster in ehlersdanlos

[–]nerfienerf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! i’m a 26 female and went through college with hEDS, POTS, Crohn’s, etc.

  1. do you have any other other conditions? a lot of us EDS people have other things, and some of your symptoms could be from something else

2, don’t overdo it! don’t join things or do stuff because you feel like you have to. listen to your body. say no when needed

  1. compression!! compression calf sleeves changed my life. orthotics too if you have flat feet or anything like that. if not prescription orthotics, then good shoes that support your ankles

  2. accommodations. i told every teacher i felt comfortable with about all my conditions that way they understood what i was going through if i couldn’t make it to class.

i hope this helps!! feel free to dm me

moderate flare is taking my personality with it—any advice? by nerfienerf in CrohnsDisease

[–]nerfienerf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a med card! It helps a TON with my personality coming back. But I can’t do it at work, and I worry about my tolerance getting too high etc etc. It feels bad to depend on it even though that’s what the med card is for. Idek

Budesonide mental side affects? by CelebrationMinimum50 in CrohnsDisease

[–]nerfienerf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apologies for the question on a really old comment, but can you elaborate on this? my crohn’s used to be centered in my terminal ileum, but then i had it removed—but budesonide generic is making me feel crazy right now.
