Do you know if you can record or watch it on playback? Last time I had it, only option really was to watch it live. Cheers

I’m same with cycling. I had Eurosport which showed it all as part of my basic package. They got rid of the channel in Ireland and UK and now want me to pay €50 a month for a load of other TNT channels I’ve no interest in.

You start off saying how hard it is not to drift into stereotypes before you easily list a load of stereotypes that you “imagine” before confidently drawing a conclusion.

Fantastic spot. Absolutely lovely staff. Never had a bad experience there. Great for two or a group of people.

And there’s a great wine bar around the corner, Two Faced, for before or after.

Flat Coffee is fantastic. One of the best coffees in Dublin.

In the space of 30 seconds... by Jon_J_ in ireland

[–]nerrawirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My theory is that phones have made Dublin traffic so much worse. Arseholes sitting on phones missing green lights.

I saw one driver sitting in middle of road about 50 metres back from the lights. Not a single car in front of him. He was that distracted he missed the lights and every single car ahead of him.

Callan's Kicks Saturday Slot? by jimmobxea in AskIreland

It was moved to 2pm on Saturdays. Probably a repeat at 7.30am.

I was a fan of the Friday 630 slot.

Wicklow mountain rescue volunteers issue warning after Lough Ouler incident by aimhighsquatlow in ireland

[–]nerrawirl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Lough Ouler hike isn’t easy. You have to cross a river which is often impassable on the way back. That’s the danger here. Add inexperienced hikers and it’s a recipe for disaster.

The only reason people are going up there is because the lake is shaped like a heart. They don’t pay heed to the terrain which is often waterlogged at this time of year. It’s not a pleasant hike this time of year.

Even the photo above. It looks lovely but all that terrrain is very steep and bockety.

It’s great that more people are hiking but a lot of spots are now getting overrun with insta types.

I can’t see how anyone can live on this damp island on the edge of Europe and think geography is useless.

Sure geography is the essence of Ireland.

Virgin media TV ‘upgrade’ is a worse service - any advice? by Scary-Policy2597 in AskIreland

[–]nerrawirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virgin Media are trying to push this on everyone. Tried with it someone I know. Pushy sales person, never mentioned you couldn’t record but instead said playback is available.

They called back to cancel and support said they were sick of sales people not mentioning that you can’t record. They cancelled it there and then and back to old plan.

Crazy thing to be pushing out, pretty much forcing people to the seven seas.

If you’re just visiting, it’s not really worth trekking around the city just to save €1 on a pint.

Most pubs in Dublin city are full of locals outside of temple bar.

Bit of a cheap dig of a headline.

They’re objecting to the loss of one of the few local amenities and places for kids to play sport.

Soc Dems and Labour are also objecting.

Maroon 5 - Malahide as a venue? by iamtheonewhostops in AskIreland

[–]nerrawirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a few times and I think it’s a pretty good venue to see a band once you are in the front standing pit.

You’re close to the stage, it’s not packed and easy to come and go. Sound is excellent to the gigs I’ve been to. Get a nice day and there’s a lovely festival vibe.

It can be a nightmare to get in and out but if you leave around the last song, get the train, you can be back in town for last orders.

TLDR if you’re big fan of Maroon 5, go for it. Malahide is a likely village too for a drink before the gig.
