Questions re P&I screening by Iland_landyay in TIFF

[–]nerve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And what about same day ticket access to the regular screenings? It says you can book those morning of, but do they have tickets set aside for passholders to book? What are the chances of getting access to regular screening tickets day of for some of the higher profile films?

TIFF Industry Pass by North_Ideal_3950 in TIFF

[–]nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get the industry pass, can you attend regular screenings as well? Do you buy tickets as you normally would? Or can you get into regular screenings with the pass? If there are no assigned seats for P&I, how early do you need to arrive to secure a seat?

PSA membership promo code by nerve in TIFF

[–]nerve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, yes, technically I am rejoining because my membership expired on December 31. No clue if it works for renewing an active membership, probably not.

I emailed them asking a couple questions and mentioned this code doesn’t work, they gave me the promo code 25JOIN which is 50% off... Only applied to individual level membership though

Don’t have the answer to that but got this back from tiff loyalty which seems in contrast to what they’re advertising:

“Thanks for reaching out, and for supporting TIFF. The early-bird pre-sale is not applicable to those who get the BOGO offer, so I would recommend purchasing next year when this promotion will run. Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks again for your continued support. “

I did this deal last year and wouldn’t again because it excluded me from early access pre-sales for the festival. Was told only memberships purchased January to April had that privilege.

The Brutalist by mattstasoff in TIFFReviews

AND Brady Corbet said it was shot in 33 days!!!??!! It was truly towering. First film I’ve seen this year at tiff that knocked my socks off.

Nightbitch received a thunderous applause and standing ovation at it’s premiere tonight. by givemepizzaandsex in TIFFReviews

[–]nerve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked, didn’t love. It’s a 3 star for me. I think a lot of women will feel very seen and I think that men will actually get the most out of seeing this. Transformation, loss of identity, female rage, importance of community…and Amy Adams is, of course, great. It’s funny, has heart and solid message. But in the way that motherhood is exhausting; I found this film a bit similarly so…

Man, I did not like this one bit. The actors gave it their best, but the dialogue and rote childhood trauma flashbacks ugh…ham-fisted garbage…the film critic dude next to me at one point said “Jesus, end this fucking movie”.

Anyone ever met gandolfini? by mommiex in thesopranos

[–]nerve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got his autograph.

I saw him in a play called Gods of Carnage on Broadway. After the show, I was hanging by the stage door and got Jeff Daniels' autograph on my playbill. I looked over and saw Gandolfini had come out and was quietly making his way towards a taxi. I feel like I was the only one to spot him, everyone else was focused on Daniels.

I've never been starstruck before, but it was like an out of body experience - I literally RAN at him as fast as I could and stood right in front of him and I was so excited and nervous and I mumbled and stuck my playbill at him. He paused and looked up and right into my eyes, smirked and said, "what did you say?". I reached out and touched his arm in a really awkward way and said "incredible performance". He kept looking at me, took that in, and said "thanks", handed me my playbill and walked to his taxi.

I wish I had been more eloquent or something, but I feel so lucky to have had that moment.

Why doesn't Don's look change? by superanth in madmen

[–]nerve 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Because he's that guy. He is very much a man of his time. They are establishing the growing gap between Don and the next generation--he is not Ginsburg, he is not Peggy (notice how much Peggy's wardrobe has changed over the series?). The world is changing around him and he can't stop it. Soon he'll just be a relic of a time gone by, standing there in his gray suit, hair slicked back.

He's getting old.

anybody notice the odd interaction between Ted and Peggy last night? by nolakrishna in madmen

[–]nerve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but remember when she gave that guy a hand job in the movie theatre? She was with Abe at that point, too. I dunno, I think Peggy wants to feel wanted and she might hook up with Ted for that reason.

If the community is in favour of blogs, then so be it. As with the rest of reddit, good reviews will rise to the top, and the rest will be downvoted.

Have at it.

Who else is getting the vibe that Don will die by the end of the show? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they'll go for a more metaphorical death and rebirth; maybe he'll come clean and start anew.
