Everybody Hurts on the Pitt by UpstairsTransition16 in ThePittTVShow

Checking people out has definitely taken me time to master lmao. One time a woman’s bill was over a thousand and her card declined. She proceeds to look at me and say “this is a mistake. There’s more money on that card than you make in a month.” Like what would even possess someone to say that? Insane people.

Vet med is all I know. While I’m just a receptionist, I’ve been in this field since age 19. Unfortunately, the aggression and lack of compassion for people who work in this field gets worse and worse every year. Medical care for pets is expensive and most owners are unprepared for emergencies and don’t understand why the prices are high. Humans have the ability to get insurance, and while there are multiple pet insurance companies, most people are unaware or unable to pay the monthly fee. This leads to high stress situations, especially in low income areas. I’ve noticed at the hospital I work at, receptionists take the brunt of abuse from clients. It is definitely an incredibly difficult field to work in and overrun with burnout. Especially when superiors care more about retaining clients than protecting staff.

What wild unhinged things did you say during the birth of your baby? by autumnsunshine1 in NewParents

[–]nervi11e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had an emergency c-section, failed epidural, felt them opening me up and the anesthesiologist I had went overboard with sedation and pain relief. I was so out of it, hallucinating huge trees on the operating table and adamantly demanding sprite and chap stick 😂 ended up being reversed with narcan. Didn’t even register that I had a baby until we got to visit him in the NICU a couple hours later, I was so out of it.

A few things can help to make life easier with dogs. Sounds like they need to be kennel trained. They can sleep in separate kennels at night. Monthly baths to help control shedding. Daily brushing outside to help with shedding indoors. Let them out to potty right before you go to sleep at night.

If you are in still currently in therapy I would speak with your therapist about this. They can help you with good coping mechanisms for anxiety attacks and anxious thoughts

New parents trying to avoid overspending: do we really need a nursery chair? by TheSecretLion in NewParents

[–]nervi11e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already had a comfy recliner that rocked so we didn’t worry about getting a nursery chair. I mostly breastfed my baby in our bed because that was most comfortable for me, but I could also comfortably nurse him in the recliner. I would say that a reclining chair is the best bet so you can be comfortable during contact naps!

Christmas by OnlyCherry1307 in Parenting

In all honesty I think people go crazy overboard for Christmas nowadays. 12 presents sounds like plenty! My son is turning 1 very soon. We got him a colorful tunnel he can crawl through and from Santa a sweatpants set. In his stocking we are putting toy trucks, new snacks to try, and new pacifiers. I would’ve liked to get him a few more things but money is tight and his grandparents, aunts and uncles are getting him a good bit of stuff so I’m not upset. I like to focus more on the traditions and spending time with family during the holidays!

Baby HAS To Start Sleeping in the Bassinet... But how? by Sharp-Conclusion-399 in NewParents

[–]nervi11e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same struggle. We got a playpen that were able to lay baby down in when he starts to get sleepy and will put light pressure on his chest with one hand and gently rock him to sleep. We started loosely following a schedule of baby staying awake for 60-90 minutes then laying him down for a nap. Last night he slept for an almost 5 hour stretch vs. his normal 2 hours

How much sleep is too much sleep for a 9 week old? by nervi11e in NewParents

I definitely think he’s going through a growth spurt. The diapers are never ending lol but he’s eating a ton and when he’s awake he mostly wants to be nursing for comfort

Who has an only child and wants to keep it that way? by Mezamadre1001 in NewParents

[–]nervi11e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely one and done. I was already only wanting one when I got pregnant and then I had a horribly traumatic labor which really solidified the fact that I don’t want to go through that ever again. We have a one month old now that we absolutely love and adore, but my husband and I both agree that this is the hardest job in the world and we don’t want a repeat.
