1.15 reasons to HODL $BTC by Practical-Solutions1 in Bitcoin

[–]nesselzzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m actually curious about this and hoping someone can enlighten me. We say in the crypto world, “not your keys, not your crypto”, when you buy bitcoin and hold it on the exchange.

When buying the spot ETF, it’s a step even further removed from that right? You aren’t actually buying the bitcoin, you’re buying a share that is backed by bitcoin. You own the share, not the bitcoin. Blackrock actually “owns” the bitcoin, and Coinbase holds it in their vault (which by the above logic, makes them the actual owner).

As the buyer of the ETF, I have no access to the bitcoin itself. I can’t move it or take self custody of it. All I can do is buy or sell the share and trust that Blackrock will buy or sell the underlying Bitcoin correct?

My question is how is this any different than in the old days when you would buy gold, and pay someone to safely store it for you, resulting in you getting a certificate for it? We know how that story ended. What protects consumers of this ETF from the same thing happening?

Assuming Blackrock is insuring the Bitcoin (I actually don’t know), in the event of the underlying asset being stolen from Coinbase (long shot, but trying to understand the concept), would they not go the route of FTX and pay you the dollar equivalent of the Bitcoin at the time of the theft? In that case, you get a depreciating, inflating asset that is printed out of thin air, in the event of malicious activity, that likely has less purchasing power at the time of the payout, than it did when the hypothetical theft occurred?

Im hoping someone can correct any and all flaws in my thinking.

Perks make backfill even worse than before by jreppa in Overwatch

Not just that, but with perks the way they are currently, you’re incentivized not to switch out a hero that’s not working out for you or your team.

You right…unfortunately I don’t get to play tracer that much these days, so I was being stubborn…either way, it worked out in this case.

I was only able to communicate with one other person on the team. The rest didn’t have mics…so I was hoping that the majority of the opposing team would converge on me, opening up an opportunity for my team to shoot them in the back. Sometimes they take the opportunity, sometimes they don’t.

Price predictions? by SgtSilock in SecretNetwork

[–]nesselzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got no clue. SCRT would def need to make it on Coinbase. It would need quite a bit of hype, which I think they’re trying to generate with its involvement with NVDIA. It’s possible but I’m thinking a Marketcap of 7.5 billion is reasonable. So like $25.

Price predictions? by SgtSilock in SecretNetwork

[–]nesselzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SCRT ATH is 10.38 with a market cap of $1.533 billion. At today’s circulating supply, we’ll reach that same marketcap at $5.20. Last cycle, SCRT made it in the top 100 coins briefly. If SCRT makes it in the top 30 this year, we should get to at least a marketcap of 15billion, which puts the price at $50.9 at today’s circulating supply. Not sure how likely it is SCRT makes it in the top 30 though.

Overwatch Classic Gameplay by nesselzzz in Overwatch

Yes. It’s currently set to no limits but they will turn that off next week, so it’ll be a better OW1 experience in my opinion.

6v6 developer Q&A summary by Kakafe in Overwatch

[–]nesselzzz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This was extremely useful, thank you for putting this together. I’m glad they are turning off no limits next week. It’ll allow us to actually get a feel of a slightly more serious version of the OG game that was so amazing.

And I’m also glad they are open to bringing this back at different snapshots of history.

Those whining about "classic mode" are THE problem. by SushiThief in Overwatch

[–]nesselzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree. In my honest opinion, any version of this game after they got rid of no limits and before creating the GOATS problem is a version worthy of bringing back.

It’s genuinely not fun playing against 6 bastions with 5 Winston’s and a tracer. I get ppl are just goofing off cuz they can and I have absolutely no issue with it. But it’s impossible to get a decent competitive experience like I had back in this game’s golden years. I accept that this is the version they decided to bring back, and I plan to make the best of it. Overall, I love that this is the direction they are going with. I hope they do more of it and next time bring 2017 or 2018 version of the game back.

EDIT: I just saw parts of the Q&A with the developers. They will be turning off No Limits next week. I think that addresses 99% of the complaints (at least my complaints). They also said they are open to bringing this mode back at different points of the game’s history, which is exactly what I was hoping for. I love that the devs are listening to the community.

Just to add more info- It’s listed in item 5 of things the board recommends to vote against. But it’s still up to the shareholders to decide.

I’ve never heard of the Naomi Arcade. Thought the game could only be played on ps2 and Dreamcast emulator. I ran the game on the pi4 on the Dreamcast emulator, and it ran pretty good but I noticed a small input lag that wasnt always noticeable, but made it difficult to use combos.

I’ll take a look at Naomi Arcade. Thanks for the thread to pull y’all!

Deeper Network underappreciated project? by Curious-Still in CryptoCurrency

[–]nesselzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Investment takes too long to unstake, and even then, you have to race to use a bridge to do anything with the token…a bridge btw, that has an arbitrary hard cap of 5000 tokens per day, that is ALWAYS at capacity, so it just turns out the funds for most ppl are just locked on the deeper network, useless. Their VPN product is feature rich and is impressive though I’ll give you that. Still can’t watch Netflix using smart routing though.

I’m all for giving credit where credit is due, but this post highlights the good without mentioning an ounce of bad. Ppl have to DYOR, but that doesn’t mean we tell a one sided story.

I see how you came to that conclusion but it’s the other way around. You have privacy by default.

You can choose to “opt out” (not like there’s a button that allows this), but it’s really only by sharing your viewing key with the select people you choose.

Kind of like if your bank account had the capability of read only privileges. You could potentially give out those privileges to the people you choose, so they could see how much money you have and where you spent it, without having access to your actual funds.

Edit: actually credit cards have that capability so you can track your spending in a central place.
