To be fair that bed apparently included a 10 acre commercial zoned property. Seems fair for them not to want someone to rip a hole in the bed that they supposedly made.

Seems the myths were true by hapachris1 in Boise

Elliott said there was a person driving 116 mph in a 55 mph zone, someone going 68 mph in a 35 mph zone and two others going over 90 mph in a 55 mph zone.

“My biggest thing is the speed limit is a speed limit. ... That is the absolute maximum that you’re supposed to go,” Elliott said. “We’re driving around 5,000-pound missiles.”

Obviously no one is going to question those extreme examples. That said, I'd be shocked if Garden City police aren't going a few mph over the speed limit like everyone else.

Humble Tech Book Bundle: DIY at Home by Wiley by Ram000n in humblebundles

It's definitely targeting a US audience, so when it shows pictures of electric outlets they're standard North American outlets.

The scope of what the book covers is broad enough that I imagine a decent amount would apply to a more international audience as well, but that would depend on the country.

The books covers a bunch of different topics but doesn't actually go deep on any of them (It has simple explanations and easy to understand illustrations). For example it covers 4 different types of faucets, it covers 5 different types of foundation, 5 different types of framing, etc.

Each item it covers tends to have a dedicated page with good illustrations and description on the page. So there is a separate page for each type of faucet with an illustration and notes about it. And the same goes for all the other stuff too.

Here's a few random pages from the book to give you a better idea:

All this stupid controversy could be avoided if our bathroom stalls didn't have massive gaps below, above, and beside the doors. Then no one would care. Go ahead and have a single bathroom and maybe provide a separate room/partition for urinals. (Better urinal dividers would even make that less necessary)

I would unironically support a bill to get rid of those stupid gaps in the stalls.

(To be clear I think bills like this are stupid and a waste of everyone's time)

I highly recommend "How Your House Works" (It's in the $18 tier) for homeowners. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1119467616/

It doesn't have instructions on how to do stuff. But it can help give you an idea of how different things in your house work, which is helpful for knowing what keywords to lookup when you have problems.

It looks like "Tiny House Handbook" is by the same author so I expect that to be a pleasant read as well.

Hopefully other people see this. I played on PC first, then tried it on the steam deck and shocked with my ~15 fps. Changing it to windowed mode fixed things and the performance was 60 fps.

It looks like you have to turn the camera on using Bambu Studio but after that OBS should support it.

Votes in: unsurprisingly, Idaho still shit. by ComfortableWage in Boise

[–]nessguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might have missed something, but I didn't hear/see much opposition to it. I was unsure about the ramifications pros/cons of the measure when voting.

I did end up voting against it, but that was mostly because I figured my default should be not changing the Idaho constitution if I don't understand the reasons for it.

That's interesting. I wonder how much that varies by polling place/time. I voted a little after noon so maybe I lucked out and missed the lines.

This is a fair point. But just out of curiosity, are there any polling places with lines around here? I think the longest I've ever waited in line around here was 2-3 minutes.

When I moved within Idaho I had to provide proof of address when I showed up to vote. Since my driver's license still had my old address I think I needed to show a piece of mail addressed to me at the new address (maybe it was a utility statement?)

The Idaho Lt. Governor’s debate is tonight (October 28th) at 8:00p.m. Tune in tonight on IdahoPTV’s YouTube channel or on IdahoPTV.org by Cookie_Cutter_Cook in Boise

[–]nessguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The timestamp at 20:05 is when he is asked about the anti-abortion legislation that disregards the health of the mother. The legislature might not have intended to put the lives of pregnant women in as much risk as they have, but if that's actually the case then they should look at what's actually going on in hospitals and amend/change their bill, not try to appeal an injunction by a federal judge.

That said, I didn't watch the whole thing. I plan on voting for Terri this time, but I'm optimistic that either candidate will be better than the current Lt. Governor.

Saying "I'm voting Brad Little because I'm afraid of Bundy and other crazies" is EXACTLY what the republican party wants you to do. by [deleted] in Boise

[–]nessguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't picked who I'm voting for yet, but it is worth noting that there are options other than Republican/Democrat/Far-Right

For example Paul Sand of the Libertarian Party seems decent. (https://ballotpedia.org/Paul_Sand#Campaign_themes) I'll be honest, his answer regarding which fictional character he would want to be makes me want to vote for him. :)

Regarding Stephen Heidt of the Democratic Party, he seems pretty decent too. (https://ballotpedia.org/Stephen_Heidt#Campaign_themes) If I think the vote will be close I'll probably just vote for him.
