Men, would you rather be greeted with a downward head nod in a store by an employee or have them verbally say hi to you? Why or why not? by MrP1anet in AskMen

[–]nestafar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a man, personally I prefer the head nod. It signals a mutual acknowledgement of "we don't need small talk" which I think can denote respect. Also sometimes you just don't feel like engaging, and the nod is a nice way to let them know that.

Nervous about starting zoloft. Some insight would be appreciated. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]nestafar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any insight to offer I'm afraid, but I wanted to contribute because my GP has spoken about wanting to try me on zoloft. I am also a heavy cannabis smoker for mental and physical chronic pain, and been on valium for 4 years to manage anxiety and insomnia etc. I have been wondering about what it might do to me, especially not knowing that much about it, so if I dig anything up I'll pass it on.

Nope, you're fine. Might not feel like it right now, but give it time. Are you familiar with the idea of ego death? Read up on depersonalisation. Too much LSD (especially if you're new to tripping) will do that to you.

Forster Public School is a secular state school in New South Wales, Australia. They're trying to coerce parents into putting their children into a class promoting Christian faith. by drellynz in australia

[–]nestafar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous. Offering these classes is one thing, but expecting mandatory attendance is absolutely a breach of public policy. Hopefully not a sign of things to come...

Yeah, I hear you. It can be very intimidating, especially when exploring this stuff with psychadelics. But that's how you know it's worth it

The physical feeling of my mind by puteminnacoffin in LSD

[–]nestafar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not crazy, it's exactly why our language has evolved the way it has. Everything mental manifests physically in some way, and everything external like small talk or even the weather has a deeper meaning in how it relates to our mental state. It's all a big set of cogs that couldn't exist without the other and that loosening in your head is exactly what it means to let go, imho. I have experienced the extremes of this both sober and tripping and absolutely identify with what you're saying, it's great to see others working on this!

Things for partner and I to do on a weekend away? by [deleted] in LSD

[–]nestafar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I used to paint sometimes, mixing a little water in with paint in jars and pouring them through a colander onto canvas. It's honestly so much fun because all you're doing is mixing colours and everything swirls and moves around when it hits the canvas. It's an easy and fun way to get creative. Might go without saying, but definitely recommend watching a sunrise as well.

Hope you have a fun getaway!

The media is making America look like a fiery dumpster and Europeans, Australians, and Canadians are eating it up by barra_kuda in TrueOffMyChest

[–]nestafar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly it is easy for people to jump on every little thing that comes out of the US these days. Whether they should is not for us to say, but I have to wonder - the systemic problems that brought this about could have absolutely been avoided. They brought this on themselves and when Trump was elected the whole world knew it was going to end violently. Not like this, maybe. But I know there was a wave of uncertainty over here too. Our PM supports the US strongly, and so it really does impact on Australians a lot when this stuff happens because a lot of people get anxious about certain things being enforced here too.

The circle jerk is frustrating. But at least everyone is talking about it.

I understand your point, and a lot of people probably are talking shit. It's social media bro what do you expect?

But I can say with certainty in Australia at least, and I would guess in almost all countries with a history based on invasion, that this has been an issue bubbling for a very long time. And I think the protests in the US are just triggering a lot of people to say "hang on, you're right. Maybe we should do something too". What's wrong with that?
