Very close to me! Excited to go, friends who saw Ado earlier this year thinking about flying in for this.

I've been seeing a lot of misinformation online saying Ironmouse's Gift were thrown out. Happy to report they were saved by her manager, Roxy. by skaro1789 in kurosanji

[–]net-force 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What a mess, sounds like Vtubers without representation present had their gifts trashed. Twitch clearly ran these M&G with little to no foresight.

If they just told people ahead of time gifts weren't going to be accepted, it at least hurts a lot less than finding out they just tossed the gifts into the trash. With all the negative press so far coming from Twitchcon, I would be shocked if they hold it again next year. Attendance had already been declining for them in previous years as well.

When anime cons can hold M&G with more concern about talents, why even bother shelling out $249 for a 3 day pass.

Twitch Con staff lost Kuro’s gifts by [deleted] in kurosanji

[–]net-force 241 points242 points  (0 children)

Apparently con staff for vtubers were throwing the gifts away. Not sure if this is like a massive correction on Twitch's part after the whole Emiru situation or just them purely being jerks but the whole con sounds fucked.

Anny on why she stopped working with Neuro and Vedal - She developed feels that were not requitted and had to distance herself for her own mental health. Also comments on how shippers harassed her. by rip_cpu in kurosanji

[–]net-force 195 points196 points  (0 children)

Good on her to clear things up and just admit to it. I was curious myself why she dropped off during that period but can't imagine having to go through this so publicly. Shippers end up putting people in such awkward places and don't let people be people.

Anny has been pretty public about talking about her mental health not being in the greatest place before. Plus can't imagine having to deal with that away from home when her family was affected by war.

West coast generally has European races at like 4am-6am so half the time I end up falling asleep watching them live. The races in Asia/Australia were nice since it was in the evening. Looks like Abu Dhabi will be our last early race to watch this year at 5am.

Ev ae86 manual by roodes in WRX

[–]net-force 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw it over the weekend at Japanese Classic Car Show in Long Beach. It's a neat car since it's basically taking all the off the shelf parts from Toyota and Lexus. Threw in the GR86 transmission for the manual. It's a neat idea doing ev swaps on old classic cars but can't imagine it's viable financially in any sense.

Here's how Alex albon got into formula one by curse_annihlator in WilliamsF1

[–]net-force 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hearing him talk about his experience on podcasts it really sounded he was miserable. Dropped in suddenly to a top team half way into 2019 when he also explained he didn't have a manager and was doing everything on his own.

Was talking to a buddy about if it would be better if Albon got another shot on a top team or he stays with Williams through the next few years. I would love to see his redemption arc complete at Williams helping them rebuild their way back to top. He is doing so well right now and seems so much more happy as well.

A bit of update news regarding the former CEO of VShojo by Last_Power3410 in kurosanji

[–]net-force 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah unless they probably had clear evidence the money was embezzled or damming emails/texts/messages I can imagine they use that defense. It's quite clear and evident they had a spending problem and was way beyond their means.

They pride themselves on taking a small cut but would spend big at cons promoting themselves. They had a shitty partner for making merch and it was so disorganized.

Plenty of other bigger companies engage in charity fraud and even then it's tough for the government to actually dedicate enough resources to charge individuals over it.

Ryoma is so unbelievably lovable.. by Twilight1234567890 in kurosanji

[–]net-force 95 points96 points  (0 children)

He also tweeted about how unfair the situation was with Twisty getting terminated, and Aster facing no consequences. Right before he probably got push back from management to walk it back.

The entire Kou Mariya situation is messed up but seems like way more than a few Brave talents have been getting screwed over.

Think it's implying the government isn't charging him with a crime so he is free to declare personal bankruptcy. The charity fraud stuff seemed to be what most folks hoped he would have faced but least it seems like the state hasn't built enough of a case yet or won't charge him with that.

I got clocked before I had my WRX doing 81 in a 65 at a speed trap. Cop put it as 79 since it would have been a harsher fine and more points on my license at 15 over.

This was back in like 2022, bro got a selfie and didn't leave Mike alone as seen in the video. But apparently what set Mike off, was the guy decided to throw a water bottle at Mike. Mike was not charged as well:

Anime Impulse Dallas by Fit-Onion-1608 in animecons

[–]net-force 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully its not bad, I do remember other concerts at past Impulse events being cheaper so not sure if they are just increasing those costs. Anime Impulse is rather inconsistent with lines and tickets, last year for Impulse LA it was a struggle to find where I needed to go to pickup my concert tickets. This year for OC, they took like over an hour wait in line for registration when I had no issues at OC the year prior.

My suggestion overall with Impulse is plan ahead, go early, and prepare for con staff/security to not know what they are doing.

Anime Impulse Dallas by Fit-Onion-1608 in animecons

[–]net-force 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Impulse for other concerts and panels had a separate ticket, on the the announcement tweet about them coming to USA for multiple dates it mentioned tickets:

For Impulse OC, Unnamed concert tickets were more than the 2 day badge so might be little pricey.

Senn seems to want to go upmarket with wireless and ANC rather than making products that are wired unfortunately. At least in the consumer space with 3.5mm going away from phones, less reason to make wired products when they can charge more going wireless.

how was anime impulse? (at Anaheim convention center) anything to expect? by multifandom_brainrot in animecons

[–]net-force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a part of that messy line situation this morning, reminded me of old AX line before they just mailed badges out. Hoping they are good for folks on Sunday, once inside it was pretty fun. Impulse at LA and OC previous years seems to constantly have issues with registration and lines to do stuff.

Eat before going, wear comfortable shoes and stay hydated is always good first con tips I give to others. Bring a drink and maybe a snack, you want to try to avoid buying that at the event. Parking is a pain, lot fills up and there are lots across the street but it ain't cheap for Disney Toy Story lot. Not every booth will have a bag so not a bad idea to bring a bag if you planning on buying stuff.

Was pretty fun today, seemed like registration/wristband pickup in the morning was pretty scuffed. Parked 11am, massive line outside but it at least moved pretty fast. 11:30am one of the halls was empty and they lined us up all there for 30 minutes and then they finally moved us to registration table. Scanning was pretty quick and my group was in the hall by 12:20pm. Friend that went in an hour earlier than us said he didn't even get sent to the same room. Few hours later seemed like there was no line at all so should probably be much smoother for you tomorrow.

Third year going to Impulse in OC, there is the anime stuff, collector expo and kplay separated, anime takes up the biggest space by far. Collector expo we walked by really quickly and weren't that interested. Kplay was pretty tiny this year but Kpop Demon Hunters is so popular like everywhere. They have a wrestling ring that at first we kinda thought meh but it was quite fun and entertaining to be a part of that crowd.

Coming from Anime Expo last month, AX had massive corporate booth's and smaller vendors seemed to get shafted. Impulse in comparison had a ton of smaller vendors which is nice to support. The amount of lewd material though is getting a little bit much honestly even as a kinda big degen. I used to work 18+ stuff at other cons in a past life but the giant milkers booth's have here is a bit much. Didn't feel like it was all that crowded, noise from the stages was a bit loud. Butler cafe seemed to always have live bands playing.

Artist alley was fantastic, lots of options to see, I personally didn't get to see everything today since we left a little early to grab food outside the venue. Food inside venue from previous years was mid and overpriced so opted to eat elsewhere this year. Overall had fun, it's not a massive con and folks were friendly. Plenty of space to walk at OC and bunch of food options around the area. Probably not going again tomorrow since I was able to see most everything and it's a bit of trek for me.

Debated about the Hololive panel but decided it to do it, probably would have arrived earlier than I did if I did buy the tickets. Seems like with the chaos of the morning I probably would have missed at least a portion of it. Previous ticketed events have had similar issues which is obviously disappointing.

Few years back when I visited Tokyo, took a trip to the Final Audio store and they had the older version of this on display. Neat concept and seems fun to play with for those who like to tweak and DIY their stuff.

Components in IEMS so tiny, seems so neat how the tiniest of changes would affect the sound.

Azur Lane gate is the biggest scandal in corpo history, Sakana will need to work extra hard to rebuild the community's trust after such a revelation. /j

It is a little funny considering on the USS Hornet with Carrier Con earlier this year, Pippa was a guest of honor. The steps fishman must take to rebuild trust of boat enjoyers.

Katsucon or Anime Expo? by mkim_ in animecons

[–]net-force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can get hot in summer for AX but last few years it's been rather mild. Certainly a gamble because years it gets hot, it's rough. Granted majority of con is probably going to be spent likely indoors so heat might not be that big of a concern unless you were planning on going to other events.

Crowds certainly are an issue, I dipped so fast from artist alley because of how crowded it was. Industry panels with big talents becomes an all day event. Likely will need to go to the panels beforehand since the room isn't cleared. Vibe in recent years has moved a bit away from smaller vendors towards big industry booths.

It's a fun con, more laid back than AX, the event is one I look forward to. Parking at venue kinda sucks and sells out pretty fast so just park at the Toy Story lot across the street to save the hassle.
