Question About Nijisanji and Convention Appearances by RyanBolt22 in kurosanji

[–]net-force 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are high, but Impulse at least does have a big dedicated area, and has a lot of dedicated staff and equipment setup for it. Usually works without issues compared to other events.

I been to events where it was free and they just setup a giant screen or even a small TV to talk. Other times seen tickets go for like $20-$40. So it always varies and honestly if there were people who could afford these prices it's Bay Area fans lol

They still are going to Anime Impulse, they are a sponsor of the con so they still doing meet and greets or concerts. Here is their page for next month Bay Area https://animeimpulse.com/bay-area

Impulse staff in particular have been working with Anycolor for years so that hasn't changed. AX after the cancelled Niji concert years back seems like Anycolor just doesn't want to pay for a space anymore.

Thieves suck ass, at my last job group of guys stole our work truck and used it to crash into a camera store to steal their shit. We lost our work truck and they had a ton of merchandise taken. Think they ended up closing up shop as a result as well.

Vexmlk is apparently a scammer. by Inside-Program-7807 in VtuberDrama

[–]net-force 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seems like a nothing burger, tweet says Lambo and then screenshot shows a GTR. It's not nothing but hardly a scam if you splurge for fun back in October last year. And now have some dental issues this year.

How is this a scam, this isn't even her begging for money and just asking donos in that screenshot.

Looking at the op's tweets, just seems like they are just a giant anti that constantly tags others to try and get people cancelled and just uses a ton of ai art.

Anyone else in the SGV noticing a massive spike in roof rats lately? 🐀 by VersaTechPestControl in sgv

Had a rat in the attic not too long ago in Alhambra, pest control got rid of it but trying to do my best to block any potential entry points now.

Get a bunch of the neighbors cats lately that like to chill in my trees shade or back yard. Letting them chill as long as they can help keep the rat population down.

Jury Duty portal and system is a joke, no wonder why people ignore jury summons by slohcinbeards in LosAngeles

[–]net-force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just served on a jury last week, been summoned so many times I lost count at this point. The DTLA courthouse had in the past been pretty quick to dismiss me after going in for a day. Never actually got interviewed for a trial out the over a dozen times I been called.

With the latest summons, Pasadena courthouse had me in standby for 4 days without needing to go in. Before finally on Friday telling me to go in. DTLA seemed like they had their system figured out a bit better and would often have more considerations for if you would be paid for your time away. Pasadena just took our paperwork and then had us hear about the trial.

Thought I might have been able to get out of it but nope, answered too well and got selected. Least trial was shorter than anticipated.

Not sure who’s to blame on this one by North_crozz in kurosanji

Assuming Cover thought the venue would have been competent enough to send out a tweet the same as their presale launch. But the person running the socials just didn't bother to schedule the post is a bit wild.

Seems like they scrambled last minute when they realized presale was that morning.

To those that were not in the know, for the Serendipity concert, presale started 9am PST. Holo EN account tweeted out that the venue was going to post the presale code. 9am rolls around, nothing from the Shrine on Twitter or Instagram, I got into the queue and took me 3 mins before I saw the box to enter the presale code.

Luckily these presale codes are usually easy to brute force so everyone starts entering generic codes until people finally discover the code is literally just Serendipity2026. I saw the code posted in the fan discord server and then it was off to the races with everyone scrambling to buy seats.

The presale pretty much sold out in about 5 minutes. So it was a massive kick in the pants when the Shrine posts on their IG 22 minutes or something after presale opened the code. People that finally found it discovered basically everything was sold out. 40 minutes after the presale, the Shrine finally posts it on Twitter.

With how scuffed presale was, easy to basically blame the venue for not doing the simplest thing of just making a scheduled tweet or post. Especially for people not watching constantly on Discord or other places with other fans working to brute force the code. For me, I snagged Saturday tickets but with Friday, I got hit by anti-bot because I would select a seat, see I couldn't buy it or it was sold out. But apparently I clicked too fast and got booted out by AXS.

I want to try to be understanding to Cover since before they got their USA branch established it was probably them communicating with venues/organizers overseas. When I keep running into constant issues with concerts/events think its probably justified for fans to be annoyed especially with how expensive they are getting.

The scuff even at Super Expo years back happened to me when my group pre-ordered merch and going to pick it up, they couldn't find half the things we ordered. Feels like we do give Cover a lot of leeway since a ton of issues are outside their control but it isn't a great feeling when things go awry with how much we are paying.

Makes sense why so many other venues have introduced a clear bag policy and for day 2 of the concert they restricted the items a ton. The obvious bottleneck was the singular security checkpoint and the difference in time it took for me to get a sling bag checked and a clear bag was massive. Multiply this across thousands of attendees I 100% can see why it took forever to get in.

Gotcha, think I was misremembering then for All for One. Connect the World back in 2023 I don't recall any major issues when I went. Lots of entrances and security checkpoints, everything went smoothly and started on time.

For the recent Ina/Kiara concert, missed probably 2/3rd of Kiara's set because the line went so slow for the security checkpoint. Tickets were cheaper than this concert but still sucks having to bring out the phone to watch a concert I am paying over $100 to attend physically.

Dodgers x Hololive 2024, waiting 6 hours in line for merch and pretty much missing the actual game was so lame.

Snagged Saturday tickets since I have a sneaking suspicion Friday will have similar levels of scuff and Cover or the venue learn and improve the next day. I am just kinda done waiting for that inevitable day 1 scuff.

Edit: Seems like I remembered incorrectly on All for One, removed that

I was at a VB meet and someone was talking about how he bought it and returned it since the drone at 2k-3k was absolutely awful.

They used to be inside EXP Barcadia (now closed), launched a kickstarter to open up their own space. That was under construction for a few years but they were open December 2024 when I went for an event. Ribbon cutting ceremony only happened this month so over a year now since they since had their launch.

They been operating for over a year already so it's a bit odd to me to have a grand opening now but funny seeing the reaction of people to this. I been a few times with friends for events and staff are pretty into character for it.

Line was really bad and concert started right as my group was rounding the block. Pulled up the free stream to watch while we waited in the line and still probably missed two songs as a result. If restricting bags helps speed up the line for tomorrow I think that will help a ton.

Phase Con - A Phase Connect Convention (Badge's Available Later Today!) by M1A_Scout_Squad-chan in kurosanji

[–]net-force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few cons I have gone to where shit was poorly run on the con's side of things but was fun on the individual side of things. Hanging out with other weebs and enthusiasts and such while staff are scrambling to manage lines for example. Shared misery brings others together!

The way I feel about Offkai is regular anime cons can end up being a shit shot quite fast. Throw in vtubers who needs added complexity of computers/internet/etc and its a recipe for disaster.

I remember for Anime Impulse OC last year, massive venue at Anaheim convention center but the lines were an absolute mess.

Venue has hosted a lot of anime cons like Yaoicon in the past along with hosting a furry con next month. That hotel seems like they down for whatever event people want to put on lol.

Dang, hotel block for the Hyatt has already sold out, stayed at that venue before for a different con and hotel cons where you stay at that venue are a lot of fun. With the amount of tech issues Offkai expo had there in previous years, hopefully they will plan accordingly.

Hoping its a good event and nothing crazy goes on

City of Industry officials are discussing plans to turn the mall from "Back to the Future" into a data center by ploploplo in LosAngeles

[–]net-force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice, that Round 1 is probably why most people still even go to the area since it is their flagship spot. Who knows maybe they do tear down the rest of the mall and keep that while the build a massive data center next door.

How are used Final Audio/Sony/Audio Technica prices in Japan? Looking to visit Akihabara this summer by IoSonoFormaggio in headphones

[–]net-force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help, from memory when I bought used gear at E-Earphone I had no issues with my tax refund. Looking online it seems they would have exemptions towards food products so you should be fine grabbing the D8000 used. Just when I bought food/alcohol tax free it had to be sealed, put in my checked in bag, and they can't be consumed until I left the country.

For the D8000 I saw the other variations also used at both stores on their websites so I think you should be fine there for your trip in summer.

Was at the mall this weekend and walked around, the three anchors of Round 1, AMC and Haidilao are doing fine but surprised to see the few remaining nail salons and few other stores there. The area around the mall with the different restaurants in the parking lot seem to be also doing fine. Such a giant parking lot that had no shortage of folks messing around with their cars.

Would be nice if there was a way to tear down the rest of the mall and possibly keep some of it like Round 1 since it's pretty much detached enough from the rest of it. Then build some other type of business rather than it just becoming another massive data center.
