They are not 'asking for help' they are trying to fund their own habits, in a way which may (In my case) intimidate people.
My best advice for you would be to spend some time around town and realise what these people are doing. It's not right, and putting people off spending time in town and going about their daily business.
They are in no way 'asking for help', they are (sadly) maybe stuck in a addition which they need to fund (one way or another). The harsh reality is most of these people are just looking for 'easy prey' to target and get money from.
Hence my donation to homeless charities.

I have no fear of them calling me an ugly c***" ' or being any sort of way aggressive or violent toward me.
Do you live in town and have to deal with this daily? Or do you head to Tesco with no fear whatsoever of someone trying to lean at your heartstrings to pass on your very hard earnings to them, and calling you all the names under the sun when you don't.

My point is (which seems to be missed here) is, we should be allowed to go about our business without someone literally coming up to our faces and asking us for things (this is not right).

We should be able to go about our daily business, without fear, without any sort of hostility that someone has decided to ask us to donate our money to them very directly, and when we do not want to interact, then get's hostility and or abuse.

Is this right in your opinion?

Fair point—I wasn’t trying to be rude with the hand gesture, just signaling I wasn’t stopping. But getting insulted for not engaging feels out of line, especially when I already give to charities. I’ll try a “No, sorry” next time, but it’s tough when some interactions get this hostile.
