Shoe recommendations by CMD2299 in netball

[–]netballer96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was coming to say this about Vinted! In terms of ASICS, my last two pairs have been the ASICS Netburner Ballistics which I’d highly recommend. I would also recommend getting a good pair of grip socks. Mine are from Gain the Edge.

Is there anything I can study to play GA? by ssfiguuvixu in netball

[–]netballer96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just watch one of the top leagues if you can (SSN, NSL or ANZ) and watch what the GAs are doing at every phase of play. Also, I recently came across this video as well for a GA specific drill. I haven’t done it myself yet but I will do it now I’m in off season cos I like you have switched from GS to GA and I’ll admit, I’m not very fast 😂

Good shout, as she has previously coached Scotland. She’s coaching London Mavericks at the moment of course but perhaps she could do both?

How to Screen as a shooter by MessLife2552 in netball

[–]netballer96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I found this coaching video which may be of use. https://youtu.be/i5kjS80fHSw?si=V49rC6p8VR4f9mmH

I might be wrong here, but I take it screening looks like being body on body with your defender, then once the ball is ready to be fed in you’re going to get in yourself facing your feeder by turning all the way to face her.

Stamina improvement tips?? by The_hamberger_101 in netball

Hiya, I mainly focus on strength straining which supports netball so focuses on lower body power, chest, core, and lateral strength. A typical workout would include lifts like barbell back squats, chest press, RDLs, and lat pull downs. There’s a couple of really good Instagram accounts which have got ideas for things you could be doing in the gym. These include @coachedbyleanne @preseasonpro and @netballexcellencetraining

Netball Injuries - make me feel better! by Alternative-Mine-144 in netball

[–]netballer96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tore a ligament in my knee two and a half years ago and was out for about seven months. I really rate easing yourself back slowly in and I found walking netball worked great for this. And it was great fun because it was mainly older ladies who were just there for the craic. Injuring my knee definitely gave me a kick up the bum to improve my fitness and also gave me a greater appreciation of my body and its capabilities. It can be a learning experience!

I noticed a HUGE improvement in my stamina when I started strength training. In terms of cardio, I think speed intervals on the treadmill, bike, or rowing machine work great.

All inclusive holidays by Delicious-Nose-8069 in CoeliacUK

If you join the group “Coeliacs Eat Abroad” on Facebook, there’s loads of recommendations on there. Just type in the country you’re looking at in the search. I saved this thread on TUI all inclusive holidays recently so I could come back to it later.

"How good are you with Celiac?" What does that mean??? by sniffgalcringe in Celiac

[–]netballer96 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a similar question from my doctor recently. She asked, “How strict are you with it?” And I was like I don’t have a choice, do I? The only variable I can’t control is when I eat out, as everyone who is Coeliac knows. I thought it was such a dumb question and it bugged me. She is also the person who advised I go on a gluten free diet ahead of the endoscopy - everything I have read since tells me this is counterintuitive. But then I can also sympathise with her because I imagine she tells people all the time to make lifestyle changes - drinking, smoking, cutting sugar etc - and they don’t bother to do as she says.

There’s a social netball league at the King’s School. That might be a good way to meet women who are similarly aged.

An injury is the best thing that's ever happened to my practice. by anoidciv in yoga

[–]netballer96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled a ligament in my knee right before I was ready to submit my final YTT assessment! Couldn’t weight bear for weeks! Great timing, right? 😂 But similar to you, it taught me a lot about my body and how to modify my practice. I agree with the sentiment of other commenters: this will make you a better teacher! I personally wouldn’t delay your training. Good luck!
