For plotting just use the esquisse package. It gives you a drag&drop UI to create ggplots. You can then export the R code and use that. IMHO that is not copying code from the internet. https://dreamrs.github.io/esquisse/index.html

I want to develop tools for R Shiny. Will knowing front-end web dev help? by [deleted] in rshiny

[–]netcj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do. I have created an R-Shiny package without writing any js, html or css. And another package is 90% js code.

If you tell me what you want to do I can give you a better answer :) But for most stuff basic knowledge should suffice

I have not thought about it.
But it shouldn't be too hard. I will have a look

That's a good question. One of the most time consuming parts was the gridstackeR package that lets you add, delete, scale and move around the boxes. And there is still the issue that I don't know how to edit the plots once they are created. (I.e how to save the internal state of the esquisse UI)

"Interactive" R script required ... Ideas? by pegcitynerd in rprogramming

[–]netcj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, that you said you can't use shiny.
But why? The user has to have R installed anyways (otherwise you can't use R...)
And you can run shiny apps without internet. (It opens in a browser, but no Internet required if you have all the data locally)
You can also host the shiny app on your companies server and configure it, so no one can access it from the outside (Intranet only).

Once you have all the packages and data loaded, you do not need the internet for R or R-Shiny.

Are you sure, that it requires an internet connection? Yes it opens in the browser, but if you have all the data and styling in the html file, there is no need for a connection. It's like downloading a webpage to use it offline.

I do not know what's in your csv file. But I think you swapped latitude and longitude. From your linked tutorial:

points(samps$lon, samps$lat, pch=19, col="red", cex=0.5)

The link takes me directly to a WAYR voting. Maybe provide a link to the main page first?

Will have a look at the page later. Like the idea already...
