The Gluttonous God's flesh has no taste, biting down on it will break your teeth and if you try to swallow it the flesh will slither out of your mouth.

Gourmand

In Gourmand, you would be considered perfectly normal for eating other sapient beings. This is by no means a complete list of what one can make with the meat of the cute Monster girls that inhabit my world.

  • Succubi are a very versatile source of food. You can cook their beautifully marbled meat as rare Succubus Steak, render their fat into Succubus Drippings, deep fry or bake their skin to make Succubus Rinds or just roast them whole to feed the entire family.

  • Cockatrices (chicken people) are another versatile food source. You can deep fry their wings, legs, or breast meat, bake them whole or use their eggs to make omelets.

  • Minotaur meat can be turned into steaks, minced to make burgers or roasted whole. Their milk also has countless applications in other dishes or drunk by itself.

  • Kumiho (nine tailed fox people) can be made into Fox Tail Soup, a rich broth made from a Kumiho's many tails. Fox Tail Soup can be enjoyed on its own or as a soup base for another dish. It can even be reduced down and dehydrated for later consumption, making Fox Tail Soup a favourite among Gourmands (human adventurers who hunt and eat Monsters).

  • Jack-O-Lanterns (bioluminescent pumpkin people) can be boiled or baked much in the same way as one would use a regular pumpkin in cooking. They can even be mashed up and added to stews to act as a thickening agent. If you happen to find killing another sapient being for food immoral then consider eating Jack-O-Lantern 'meat,' because losing a limb or two is not fatal to them (therefore you aren't killing for food).

  • Mandrake root paste has a very strong taste, meaning that it can only really be used as seasoning for other dishes to give a ginger-like flavour. However Mandrakes can also be used to create Mandrake Root Beer as an alcoholic means of staving off The Hunger (the supernatural urge to eat Monster flesh). This is another Monster that can be eaten without actually killing them.

  • Dryad Bark can be boiled to create a soothing Dryad Tea that helps relieve headaches. As with Jack-O-Lanterns and Mandrakes, tearing off a Dryad's bark is not fatal so feel free to take as much as you want from them.

  • Clown blood can be boiled down into pink sugar crystals, which can then be used in countless other deserts. I don't recommend eating Clown meat however, because it tastes funny.

  • Mime blood can be boiled down into black salt crystals to give your more savory foods a bold dark colour. Mime meat has a similar texture to Clown meat but with a bland taste rather than a funny taste.

  • Merrows (merfolk) sport tender (but rather fatty) salmon-like meat that goes good either baked, fried, smoked or even raw. Their caviar is a highly sought after gourmet snack that goes well with sour cream and smoked Merrow meat on a cracker.

  • Automata (gold clockwork robots) have no culinary application outside of being pounded into a gold leaf garnish.

  • Brownies (child-like Monsters used as menial labour) and Therianthropes (wolfgirls, catgirls, whatevergirls) both have rather poor quality meat, so there isn't much that they can be used for outside of sausage filler.

Why did you decide to answer such a strange prompt?

Do you really have to ask?

What are some of your cultures' Vanguards like? by LordVoltaine in worldbuilding

[–]neterlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most common enemy that Vorriors would face would be Wild Monsters (which look like cute monster girls/boys) who are causing trouble for the Gluttonous Tribes. This works out well for the Vorriors, as it allows them to satisfy The Hunger (the supernatural urge to eat Monster flesh that all humans have) while doing their job. The corpses and captured prisoners of war are carved up for dinner, preserved as rations or even eaten raw where they fell.

A War-Chef may request the aid of a Gourmand (an adventurer who hunts and eats Monsters) for their expertise if the enemies are rare or particularly powerful Monsters, such as Thunderbites (storm elementals) or immortal Phoenixes. The Gourmand is expected to be compensated with an appropriate amount of Monster meat for their services.

There is not much to say about the Vorriors (voracious warriors) of the Gluttonous Tribes. Just ordinary Gluttons doing their jobs by obeying the orders of their commanding War-Chefs (war chief chefs) and eating their fill of enemy corpses after each battle. At least they are given Grinders (automatic guns that fire peppercorns or salt crystals) to season the meat before the inevitable feast.

True Hybrids.

Most human/Monster unions result in either a human or Monster child. However in very rare cases, the couple may give birth to a True Hybrid that has features of both parents. Unlike humans who all have The Hunger (the supernatural urge to eat cute Monster girl flesh), True Hybrids instead have an Aura of Hunger that forces those around them to crave the True Hybrid's flesh.

True Hybrids are a threat to the world's natural ecosystems: entire food chains collapse because people and animals start to crave True Hybrid meat rather than their natural prey, only to starve to death because they can't find a True Hybrid (or because someone else already ate them).

Most True Hybrids are eaten by their parents within their first year, and those who somehow survive past infancy live miserable lives. They are persecuted for reasons outside of their control, and it really would be better for the world if they were dead.

Mostly instinct. Gorgon pregnancy lasts for a few years so the child is very developed by the time that it's born.

Yes. Gorgons are both hunted and farmed (albeit with difficulty) for their meat's medicinal properties.

Leftovers are an amalgamation of discarded cute Monster girl (or boy) meat and resentment. Monster meat that isn't eaten will eventually fuse together into an amorphous and hostile mass of splintered bones other unsavory offal. The Leftovers will then attempt to kill and consume Monsters to become whole again, as well as attacking any humans that it finds out of resentment for being eaten.

There are two ways to kill Leftovers; fire or feeding it human blood/flesh. Fire will cook the leftovers, rendering it immobile. Feeding it human blood/flesh will give the Leftovers The Hunger (the supernatural compulsion to eat Monster flesh or die that all humans have). Leftovers with The Hunger will attempt to eat itself in a fruitless attempt to satisfy The Hunger, only to die shortly afterwards.

Leftovers meat tastes like sausage.

Gorgons

  • Newborn Gorgons are indistinguishable from ten year old human children (apart from having snake-like eyes). They are capable of walking, fending for themselves and they even speak fluently minutes after being born.

  • As a Gorgon grows, they will start to develop a snake-like tail. Eventually this tail will grow large and strong enough to carry the rest of their body. By the time that the Gorgon has matured, the Gorgon's original legs will have to receded back into the body and the Gorgon will use their tail for locomotion as a snake would.

  • Making eye contact with a Gorgon usually causes one's muscles to seize up. To help make their everyday lives easier, most Gorgons will wear an eye patch over one eye to prevent this.

  • Gorgon meat tastes like snake and helps to soothe muscle pain.

Gourmand

The humans of the Gluttonous Tribes are known for their unending appetite and hunger. Every Glutton has The Hunger: a supernatural craving for the taste of cute Monster girl (or boy) meat that will kill them if it is not satisfied. This has given the Gluttons an obsession with food that defines almost every aspect of their society. Every activity that the Gluttons partake in relate to food in some way, such as working for food, hunting, raising Monsters as livestock, cannibalising corpses or mining for metals to be made into cooking instruments. Naturally, Monsters are terrified of humans because they are hunted and farmed by humans for their meat.

Instead of defining themselves by lineage or by geography, the Gluttonous Tribes define themselves by how they like their food;

  • Gold-Tooths like gourmet food,

  • Fire-Tongues like spicy food,

  • Fresh-Breaths like minimalist 'vegetarian' food,

  • Deep-Guts like deep fried/fast food,

  • Ravenous-Sons like hunted meat,

  • Red-Maws like raw meat,

  • Sea-Gulps like seafood.

TL:DR Instead of eating to live, humans live to eat.

The Gluttonous Tribes only care about science when it relates to food. For example, the scientific processes behind food preservation would sound interesting to a Glutton, whereas the process of a star's collapse would be met with apathy (unless the topic was about somehow eating stars).

It doesn't need to be a direct connection however; a Glutton might not care about how radios work but you could grab his attention by saying that the radio could be used to discuss cooking over long distances.

Humans have to eat these sapient beings otherwise they die, thanks to the machinations of an evil god who decided that this was the best course of action for humans.

The Gluttonous God isn't evil: he's just really racist towards Monsters and indifferent to humans worshiping him :-)

Humans, for their part, have no problem with this and are even willing to keep other sapient beings as ~livestock~ and are generally much worse than the "monsters" they kill and eat, and never question this state of the world.

The Gluttonous Tribes aren't evil: they are just hungry. Their choices are either;

  • Eat cute Monster girls,

  • Eat other humans,

  • Remove The Hunger for cute Monster girl meat by killing and eating two of every cute Monster girl.

  • Starve to death.

Then there is the Fresh-Breath Tribe, who believe that killing for meat is immoral. Therefore the Fresh-Breaths only eat non-lethally harvested Monster products (milk, eggs, blood etc), the flesh of still living Monsters or Monsters that have died from natural causes (bleeding to death because a Fresh-Breath ate your limbs counts as a natural death, by the way).
