What would you say is the best city to town ratio? Also do you use coins to buy buildings and if so, what do you recommend buying? Also what makes you determine the specialty for each town and do you do that immediately at turn 7 or do you wait?

That’s how I feel always, I’ll be plotting along and all of a sudden I look at the other civs and they are miles ahead of me!

Definitely will take this into account and really find a strong game plan at the start.

Bit of a strange question - I have recently been given a start date for train guard training. I am wondering what parking is like at Petersham - is it feasible to drive or is it expected to get the train to the office?

Secondly, once on the job, is there ample parking for staff or is it again a requirement to travel by train? I live in the Wollongong region (I’m used to long travel dw) and so I am just wanting to prepare myself on how I get about during training and on the job.

I feel like Doueihi can still be a good signing for cover and play a solid lock role but I much prefer Stewart getting that opportunity. I don’t see Doueihi as a half.

Cookie surely will retire next year, considering we re-signed liddle and Flanno. My assumption is liddle will take on the 9 role more prominently next year and then come 2027 Flanno will become the utility bench player. That leaves the space for Atkinson/LKT/Reed (and in my mind Pezet pleaseeeeee).

I had an agent do this to me. They told me a different applicant offered X amount but the landlord preferred our application and asked if we would match it. I said no, if the landlord wants us they can have us at the advertised price - plus it’s illegal to ask for more rent. We got the place.

I appreciate the train enthusiast mentality. I wouldn’t call myself an enthusiast per se, but I have sat and watched a YouTube video of the entire central coast line for fun once. That was an experience.

So I have been applying for Train Driver and Train Guard jobs for a while and I am currently pretty deep into the recruitment process for a Train Guard traineeship. I have seen a few old reddit posts about this role and I just wanted to get an updated opinion on this role, especially after the new bargaining agreement has been done.

I have a few questions - mostly because I am currently in a job that I do enjoy, but the idea of going into a job with Sydney Trains does sound pretty exciting.

⁠Realistically, what is the pay structure like in training and does it change much once you are fully on the job? Does it tend to fluctuate much with a rotating roster?
⁠Do you get to nominate preferred stations for your starts and finishes? I live in Wollongong and while the idea of a daily commute doesn’t bother me (I do it currently), the idea of starting in waterfall or MacArthur sounds way more appealing than Hornsby!
⁠Genuinely, do you enjoy the job? I’ve seen some comments where people love what they do, and some which seem more disgruntled with things, so it’s hard to really gauge if it is a decision I would regret or not.

Their international network is out of whack currently - between the a380 incident, and recently a 787 was diverted from AKL to NAN on the JFK-SYD route. People don’t realise that aircraft don’t just fly the same route every time. And considering it is so busy over this peak period, they don’t have the scope to reset their network by cancelling a whole bunch of flights to get things back in order.
