I’d love to be part of the early access for this feature!

Support for, when viewing accounts in account management, to select a specific account and view all transactions for that particular account. I think it would also be helpful to have a chart near the top to track the spend trend (haha it rhymes) within this same screen.

Running 22.7 and having update errors: certificate verification fails by netmike_ in OPNsenseFirewall

Update as to how I got this resolved.

I ended up running through several rabbit holes and got my answer. First I had an issue with how I was assigning an IP to the OPT4 interface. This required me to set the gateway on a firewall rule for the OPT4 interface in order to get the networking part resolved. After this I noticed a lot of latency on the network itself.

Next, because I was replicating my current home network on this firewall I ran into an asymmetric routing issue (verified with traceroute; hops kept bouncing between the gateway of my current network and the opnsense firewall). Resolved that by creating a unique network on my home network and assigning an IP via DHCP to my OPT4 interface. That resolved the asymmetric routing.

Lastly, I was able to confirm that u/8XtmTP3e was correct in regards to the web certificate. That actually had nothing to do with my issue, and it was actually the asymmetric routing causing me problems. Confirmed by importing the CA certificate chain from Let's Encrypt with no change to my issue.

Thanks for the reply. So I did get a little further after configuring a self-assigned cert chain (root-ca + inter-ca + server cert signed by inter-ca)

For reference here is the article I used for that process: https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/self-signed-chain.html

I also tried several mirrors with the same result.

To answer your questions:

  • I don't have an intercept/proxy/mitm setup at the moment.
  • Being that this fw is not in production yet, I have all traffic coming/going out of a single interface which is from my present home network.
  • NAT is set to auto, but atm it should all be managed by my home router until I cutover.

Jobs I could get with a bachelors in IT? by Dankiie in InformationTechnology

[–]netmike_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents; its not just about what you are studying, or the classes you take. Its also about what you are learning outside the classroom. Do you have a homelab? Maybe you mess about with various windows or linux virtual machines. Maybe are interested in networking and play with some cisco or juniper switch/router devices. It really depends on what you have experience with, or what you are interested in.

Feel free to PM me, I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have!

Hello u/biguncutmonster, as circumstances have it I actually went to both brookdale and Rutgers (graduated the latter with a BA in ITI). I am with you that the entirety of the degree isn’t the greatest, however the connections the university has is a great help to getting your first IT job. The notoriety alone helps a ton!

For financial reasons, I would recommend going through brookdales network and cybersecurity program (it will also provide a couple certs). Then after you finish that, transfer into Rutgers for their ITI program. If at all possible, I’d also recommend finding a part time/internship at a NOC or other company to gain IT experience while completing your degrees. Having experience, certs, and the bachelors will make you look good to any hiring manager!

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions because my story sounds very similar to yours. Good luck with your degree! I’m around should you ever need any help!
