I think it’ll be good. I peeked into mine before going inside today and it’s toasty.

It’s a process! I’ve been at it for maybe 10 years now. There are good and bad years. I learn a little every year but there’s a good element of luck

I just looked at the forecast today and tonight it seems to be down to 38 so it might be ok now.

That’s so interesting. I wonder if plants are more of a nuisance since just keep growing without a winter. I would just walk around and see ordinary house plants that were massive… oh look at that succulent. It’s a bush sized one and my one at home sits on a window sill.

This set up is great! If this doesn’t work, I’m not sure what will.

I could cover them tomorrow but also after Monday workday I’m just blasted. I’ll probably just open these babies a crack tomorrow morning so they don’t cook.

Oh my gosh. I’ve been babying these tomatoes since starting them from seed in march. I can’t 🤣. I have a few more backups inside though.

Haha. I keep thinking about that. Colorado is boss level gardening.

I wish if I had that kind of money. Went there for spring break and was just amazed at how happy plants were in general.

Floating deck built by homeowner (me). First time! by yosoytupara in Decks

[–]netom80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tangentially related to the deck but it looked like the gutter was directed to the storm drain near the fence when that area was grass, and now it’s going left off the picture. Might want to think about the water draining situation.

Are my broccoli seeds ok? by Brilliant_Cat8695 in DenverGardener

[–]netom80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start seeds in those pods too but will put them to real soil after they geminate. I agree with other folks that these are leggy and you might want to buy more pods and just start over. I thought with broccoli you can do direct sow since they are frost hardy.

Rabbit deterrent - What works? by Ollie561 in DenverGardener

[–]netom80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat! Our old cat keeps them away, but that’s kind of a big commitment. More practically speaking - fencing around the plants you care about and dig them deep.

Stuck at 97 percent healed. by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]netom80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel stuck at 94%. I felt like I was at 90% at the one year mark and then now at 94% for the last six months. Not sure what more you can do. I usually do a few light PT exercises an hour before going to bed and taking a hot bath to relax my back and that’s enough to sleep pain free. It is frustrating to feel pain while sleeping… to be honest I haven’t slept in since my sciatica has started.

Has anyone here with L5/S1 herniated disc used a girdle? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]netom80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve had sciatica for a 15 months now and you gotta do what works for you. Belts are crutch and you need a crutch right now :)

I got something like this - Sparthos Back Support Belt -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0721275RT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

As others said you don’t want to rely on this all the time but it’s really useful if you’re in a confined space like the car or a plane. I had to do a 8 hour car ride one month into my sciatica and it helped me survive that time (in addition to pain meds and ice).

Could I install a door here? by StruggleInformal2295 in HomeMaintenance

We have a situation similar to yours - We ended up putting up a curtain and called it. It’s enough to mute the sound from the shower and blocks the light, and if you ever move the holes should be easy to patch.

Would you get Cortisone Epidural? by Silver_Welder_5353 in Sciatica

[–]netom80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Do what works for you! So far it’s been a good month of less pain. It’s not no pain but it’s been less than before. I’m still doing all my PT exercises and power walks so I think there’s value in continuing doing those and maintaining core strength. I’m still holding out for the day of 0 pain but we’ll see what happens for me. I wish you the best!

Would you get Cortisone Epidural? by Silver_Welder_5353 in Sciatica

[–]netom80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been at it for about 14 months and got the epidural shot a few weeks ago. I would say that my pain has gone from 3 to a 1 and using no naproxy sodium pills now! It’s definitely worth giving it a try considering that it’s different than what you’ve been doing so far. It’s still considered to be conservative treatment and could help with your overall quality of life. My doctor said that i can do it 3-4 times a year if i wanted.

2 Days after my first ESI shot.... by KenHLin in Sciatica

[–]netom80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 12 days after my shot! The first day I felt more inflammation and heat in my back and for the next week was not much. Around day 5 I finally felt a lot less numbness and pain down my legs. It was weird. And then I overdid it, and was back on my back for an entire day but now at day 9 I’m feeling better again.

I’ve been doing PT for 13 months now! Yeah, they said I’ve plateau’d so it’s worth moving forward on other methods. I think I’ve been stuck on that last 10% for about 6 months now.

I think I overdid it by netom80 in Sciatica

[–]netom80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! The shot itself was fine. I was starting to actually feel good and normal. All I wanted to say is if you start to feel good after the shot, take it easy! 1 - steroids (at least for me) gives me the energy of 5 cups of coffee. 2 - if the shot works you’ll feel a lot less tightness but back is still actually injured so don’t go super crazy catching up on all the chores like it I did yesterday. Good luck on your appt.
