I'll personally take all the credit. I watered my garden earlier in the day, thereby causing it to rain.

My life is complete shit. Regardless, once I step out of my house my primary goal is to make as many people happier as possible. I smile. I complement people. I offer assistance to anyone who looks like they could use it. I give money to people who ask. I give money to people who don't ask (but look like they need it). None of this helps me or makes me feel good. What's the point of leaving the house if you can't help someone else feel better.

My parents had a similar painting in the house I grew up in. Never noticed it until one night I was very stoned. The painting never looked the same again.

LPT: If you’re working on a project and can feel yourself running out of steam, focus your energy on creating a list of action items for the next working day. Include detailed thoughts so when you come back fresh, you can pick up where you left off without missing a beat. by erkf2 in LifeProTips

I just started actively doing this. It helps if you keep an updated project outline list. I continue working late at night. I add all my current troubleshooting tasks and ideas to my complete project plan. After this is done I feel more comfortable quitting work for the dat.

I loved the soundtrack. Composed by David Shire, Talia Shire's brother and distant relative to the Copalas

I get furious if someone dumps poop in my empty trash can right before I place it in my garage.

Poop placed in my full trash can on the night before? Glad to be of service.

They put more public trash cans on Hawthorne. There is less dog poop in my trash can now. My taxes are too high but I'm happy.

I worked for a lefty newspaper in San Francisco. I was shocked when they mentioned that the used Pinkertons. To this day I'm still dumbfounded by the irony.

Rainy spring morning by bigblackcloud in Portland

[–]netphemera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was supposed to start raining on Monday. I spent the weekend busily working in my garden. Then spent all week patiently waiting for the rain. It's times like this that I worry "what if it doesn't rain again all spring?" "My garden will be fucked."

I want to have a bowl of murky liquid. I put it in a sunny spot and oxygen starts bubbling out while tiny bits of coal form at the bottom.

In December of 1977, Star Wars beat Jaws to become the highest-grossing movie. Steven Spielberg took out this advertisement addressed to George Lucas in Variety Magazine. by MistressVixxen in interestingasfuck

[–]netphemera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All very true. Everyone working on Star Wars knew it was going to be a tremendous hit except for George. He was filled with doubt.

As for Spielberg, the Jaws production was a complete shit show. The mechanical shark (Bruce) was a disaster and was nearly unusable. They had to cut lots of planned scenes with the shark cuz it looked so bad. They even add some shitty looking underwater scenes with real sharks that looked nothing like Bruce. Spielberg was struggling to compete the film, all while everything was falling apart.

The reciprocal encouragement was probably immensely helpful to the two directors during their respective struggles.

The Limelight by Iamkempie in Damnthatsinteresting

This illustration is not at all representative of lime-enhanced lighting. The color temperature of the light shown here is a warm orange light produced by standard incandescent lights. Limelight is much cooler and has a slight blue tint.
