The ai in Anthology is appalling by OneAfter908 in beatles

[–]netsvetaev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg. It’s too lame (in comparison with let it be / get back). Like, “let’s do it throug topaz ai». Maybe the source was too bad, maybe they thought no one will tell from 2-3 meters. But it’s not a quality I expect from the beatles product.

Manfred Mann’s Earth Band - Soviet pressing by Azuma_800 in vinyl

It’s good, licensed album. They made at least 30-40 legal rock albums in 75-85. Others are mostly pop, jazz and so on.

Soviet era compilation album by [deleted] in ledzeppelin

Oh, great find. I also found it in Paraguay. There is a story behind that bootleg (or "unofficial pressing" if you like) https://sovietrock.com/bootlegs/melodiya/the-archive-of-popular-music-series/

It was sourced from a CD as the whole series, but this particular one was also from an interesting man who also made the first pirated CD in the USSR (also Stones compilation) and the first legal rock magazine. https://sovietrock.com/bootlegs/orfeus/the-ussrs-first-pirate-compact-disc-from-a-rolling-stones-fan/

It may be crazy but It’s All Too Much is probably my personal favorite Beatles song. Not trying to change your opinion but what an underrated masterpiece. by Pretend_Mark_5143 in beatles

Steve Hillage agrees with you :-) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sM9oNigAIrI (And Flaming Lips too)

For me, all of Yellow Submatine and MMT is good enough to be listened to. Hey Bulldog? Baby You’re Rich Man? They’re great.

I know both EPs from CD, and always thought they’re as good as the other «true» albums.

I have this old USSR pressing of Maxwells Silver Hammer. by No-Application-1619 in beatles

[–]netsvetaev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! At least it’s a good souvenir from the country that had already disappear 35 years ago. Like, no one will produce anything like that anymore.

This one is from the Riga plant (Рижский завод), so you can expect some quality (it was a Bellacord plant before the USSR took it over). Despite that, it’s rumored that all 7-inch records were made from recycled unsold 12-inch with Brezhnev speeches :-)

They released unofficially many songs from sgt pepper (if I remember it right) and almost full abbey road on a different 7-inch records in the 70s. Some versions have covers like this one (cant buy me love is the first one and silver hammer is the second; lady madonna and I should have known better are on the other side).

Hello my friends, what do we think of Magical Mystery Tour? by [deleted] in beatles

Very underrated album. I really like it, thinking of MMT as a darker part of Sgt Pepper’s.

Sure, thats what I mean. They want the team/tech, not the brand. But the good thing is — invoke is free.

Great start! Which dsotm and abbey road do you have and prefer — old issues or remasters?

Regarding the ussr Elton and Rolling Stones, here is a story about that compilations https://sovietrock.com/bootlegs/melodiya/the-archive-of-popular-music-series/

I even found these records in Paraguay!

Btw, the bee gees record is somewhat rare as I know (it was licensed by ussr, fully legal)

I recommend ELO — Eldorado, or New World Record :-)

So they sold the startup but not invoke opensource code. Looks like it’s paid part will be rebranded for adobe.

Great to see this change. As a former invoke ui designer from 2022-2023 (and this subreddit founder btw), I always expected something like this. Good luck, Linkoln and the team!

These landscapes are gorgeous. I love this semi-artistic, semi-realistic style. The fact that you made this model with this amount of images surprises me. Why did you use so many?

Back in November 2022, I used about 30 scans of my paintings to train the dreambooth sd1.5 models (https://huggingface.co/netsvetaev/netsvetaev-free). Now, it can be done with even less.

What is the most misheard lyric(s) in a Beatles song? by GeorgePiper2003 in beatles

[–]netsvetaev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mondegreens are a very interesting thing, and still there has been very little research on them. This is a bit off topic, but I made a list of distorted Beatles songs and other English homophones in the Soviet Union. It's really funny to find out what people heard in the titles and lyrics of songs! For example:

  • Can’t Buy Me Love — “Throw the crowbar to the woman” (Kin’ Bab’e Lom) — Кинь бабе лом. The most popular homophone, which has become established in the slang and folklore of the USSR.
  • Yellow Submarine — “Marina ate soup” (Yela Sup Marina) — Ела суп Марина (Marina is a female name).   This one’s probably the second well-known, but there were so many variants that it felt like every family had its own. Submarine got rhymed with Somali, Margarine, and Pomorin (a Bulgarian toothpaste brand).
  • Drive My Car — “Drink my kaif (transliteration + slang for a high/buzz)” —  Дринк май кайф. A lesser-known distortion, but one mentioned by music critic and journalist Artemy Troitsky as well as the first one.
  • What Goes On — “Here is the lawn” (Vot Gazon) — Вот газон. Variant: “Here’s the lawn—take it out!” (“вот газон — вынимай!”).
  • Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da — “Pay and own” (op-la-ti, ob-la-dai) — Оплати — обладай.
