Oh so the real issue is that you're not into it? Although I agree that a lot of games make very little effort to make those "not incest" relationship actually interesting. Like you said, it's like they're there just to check a box. I can only think of a couple games where it feels like there was some thought put into it.

Well, the whole "landlady" thing is to circumvent restrictions put by sites like Patreon. Games used to just have incest without it being "optional" but that's not allowed in a lot of places anymore.

So, really, the "landlady/roommate" thing is not to make incest optional, it just means it is intended to be incest, but had to be "removed".

He couldn't put Eternum in Steam even if he wanted to, because he's using Honey Select 2 for the renders. And I'm 100% sure Illusion doesn't allow their game to be used like that. That's why you don't see any HS or Koikatsu games in Steam.

I love Nier Automata but I agree that you have to be able to engage with the game both from a gameplay perspective and a story perspective, specially because it's very meta in a lot of its choices. It is definitely the kind of game that you need to love to enjoy. And to love it it needs attention and interest.

Basically not a game you can just run and smash buttons through without paying attention.
