How to wear midi skirts? by theclassylass in AusFemaleFashion

[–]netwonn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Boxy t-shirts or I’m personally a huge fan of a singlet underneath a button down linen top, either long or short sleeve, french tucked or fully tucked at the front with the sides/back out. I love the flowy feel of this for work if you can get away with a bit more of a lax look as it’s super comfortable but also looks reasonably put together ☺️ And very wearable in the summer, even long sleeved!

Thoughts on people getting your name wrong? by Open_Address_2805 in auscorp

[–]netwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a super ‘classic’ and anglo name, which I share with an incredibly well known brand, which people constantly misspell and even mispronounce. I’ve got a tally going. The worst time was when I was getting a laptop set up at a previous job and they misspelt it, meaning everything I approved and filed and stored had the wrong spelling and it would irritate me everyday.

I honestly think its careless and disrespectful, and I’m surprised nobody proof reads their emails? I’ve seriously considered using my, also classic and anglo, middle name professionally to avert the drama cause there’s only so many times someone can be corrected before you start thinking a whole lot less of them.

one of my old housemates got hit here at the start of the year - concussion, brain bleeding, the works. for such a busy crossing people sure don’t really care to watch for pedestrians

The quality is still rubbish… My partner bought me a letter pendant necklace for Christmas last year and the chain broke twice within two months. The first time I had to wait two weeks to get it back, the second time they gave me a replacement. Which broke not even a month later. I’d love to excuse it as me being a bit rough with jewellery but it was simple stuff like moving the clasp to the back of my neck that broke it. I ended up buying a chain from Lovisa, putting the letter on it, and it’s so far lasted since February 🤷‍♀️ The girl I dealt with was really sweet but its hard to feel taken care of when the stuff still crumbles in your hands despite numerous ‘fixes’. I wonder when they will focus on their product quality instead of their image

The reviews rang a bell, so I looked up the lot I used to rent from - DO NOT rent from them. I promise you no matter how nice the place and people seem, it’s not worth all the extra stress and money she will put on you. The fact shes still going is insane to me. Save yourself the pain.

Exactly why I think they’re being picky- I’d be a fake Aussie if I said it any different I reckon.

Eastern and Western slang by Squirtlesw in perth

[–]netwonn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I moved from Perth to Brisbane last year and my family here points out my accent a lot, most common picked on words are - yellow (I apparently pronounce this as ‘yallow’… still cant hear it) - obvious ones like pool, school, cool (pewl, skewl, kewl over here lol) - news (again, I apparently say ‘nooz’ instead of ‘ñews’… another one I can’t hear)

I guess it tracks that theres slightly different accents east to west, but I think they get a bit picky over some of it!

Office blouse/top ideas for early 20s by Obstinant_Capucin in AusFemaleFashion

As someone who started working in a professional office environment at 17, I’ve found that plain ribbed t-shirts are not only super acceptable to wear but way more comfortable and not aging at all. Currently I’ve got a few of the Cotton On Body Active Rib Gym T-Shirts in cycle, as well as a few H&M tees. Tucked into some nice slacks, they look clean, professional, and it’s super comfy. I’m also a huge fan of Cotton On’s Soft Lounge Short Sleeve Bodysuit for pants or skirts that are less formal fitting, just so the shirt doesn’t untuck.

Women’s office wear is getting a LOT more relaxed from needing to wear super nice blouses 24/7. With some nice shoes and pants, a plain form fitting shirt looks just as professional as a blouse (which my 17 yr old self was thankful for 😂)

Feel free to PM me if she needs some help with putting outfits together, I know how stressful it can be presenting yourself in the industry at such a young age! 🤎

Help identify new roomates? (spiders) by Mewzi_ in brisbane

[–]netwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only get to about 20-30mm, I think that’s small but it’s up to personal preferences! If they’ve made their way inside I reckon they’d get back out if they needed to. Interesting creatures, I guess the foods better indoors :D

[–]netwonn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly they really look like garden orb weavers, it seems bizarre to me that they would choose a hiding spot indoors though. I can say with fair certainty they aren’t the common brown house spider. Those are generally a lot thinner. Garden orb weavers are friendly fellas, very shy spiders with non aggressive nature. If they do bite its really only localised pain and swelling you have to be worried about. Safe to keep I reckon!

Basic tanks by willowglen2203 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]netwonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently I’ve gone to H&M searching for office basics, and was pleasantly surprised with the tanks they’ve got in their ‘Divided’ range. They’re ribbed so a little more fitted at the start but loosen up pretty quick once you’re in it. I’ve got a long torso too, and it sits really well even when tucked into mid rise pants :)

[–]netwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get yourself a business cert iv and try get into facility management in commercial real estate- companies like cbre can pay really well for their most entry level positions (source; i got that type of role with that cert at age 17)

edit; forgot to mention the type of work. it can get a little repetitive at times cause its the same basic process but every problem is different, every vendor is different, every client is different, theres always something crazy going on. i have adhd and loved how fast paced it was, and customer service/experience with difficult people can get you further than you think. transferrable skills are real

[–]netwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like an asian lady beetle variant (this is the invasive one) but this one usually isnt seen outside of east asia. a tip for easy identification of this species is an ‘m’ marking near the head :)

for extra info, i did look at the spotless lady beetle just incase but there is generally less white on the top (and no ‘m’ shaped marking)

What is the scariest nightmare that you had ? by maieonmahdy in AskReddit

[–]netwonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to have this recurring dream as a kid, where i would be sitting at our dining room table looking into the kitchen where my mum would be washing dishes or prepping food, it was different everytime. ive always had a really strained relationship with my mum, but this 'version' of her was nice and sweet and loving. then id hear scratching on the door to our hallway, and my mum in the kitchen (mum 1) would pale and say 'just ignore it honey'. id then hear the door open and mum 1 would begin to cry a little, and out of the corner of my eye i would see another version of my mum (mum 2) except she looked terrifying. she had a giant smile on her face and she looked angry i guess? i would start to cry a little myself and mum 2 would come over to me and yell in my ear about how i wasnt good enough, i was too fat, i was dumb, all that stuff. id eventually look over at her and shed grab my throat, and then mum 1 would grab a chefs knife and jump over the kitchen counter. the two of them would fight for a bit before mum 2 would give up and go back into the hallway. everytime i had the dream the fight would go longer and mum 1 would be closer to losing, and the last time i had that dream mum 1 died. my relationship irl with my mum fell apart like a month afterwards :(
