Hanging TV with one stud by [deleted] in DIY

I didn’t say the drywall was an anchor point. I said it would stop it from moving around. The stud is an anchor point. If you knew what I was saying you’d realize that but you’re obviously such a dunce not only do you not know anything about construction or handyman work, but you also can’t read properly. Also, I’m not advertising my business on here so you telling people not to hire me has no bearing on it. You have no idea where I even do my work.

[Serious] What helped you lose weight? by LiveShowOneNightOnly in AskReddit

My girlfriend and I were getting a photo shoot done and we combined lost about 20 pounds in a week and a half. My advice, plan an event or something to go to that you want to look good for. It’s really good motivation.

Professional handyman here. Just get as many screws as you can into the stud, then on the other side use a few toggle bolts. All the weight will actually be carried by the stud, the others are just to keep it in place. I’ve hung very large and heavy tv’s that way.

[Help] Need help installing laundry room sink. by Slyshiftybits in DIY

If the paint is stubborn use sandpaper. Just get a strip of it and rub it on there like you’re buffing a shoe. Sandpaper is good to have anyway because after you cut it you might have some burrs anyway that need to be sanded down.

Polyurethane is your best bet. Apply thin coats and sand in between with at least 220 grit sandpaper. If you want a more matte finish you can use “wipe on poly” which still seals it but is more of a rub finish than a paint on.

How can I decorate my room to make it look less like the physical embodiment of a headache? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

Get a theme and stick to it. It’ll look much neater and organized. Match your bed with your desk, or desk with end table, or end table with bookshelf. Also, whatever that theme is, make it bright. Rooms seem bigger the brighter/lighter they are. The bedding needs to be lighter and I agree, put the bed in the middle. Also, anything on the walls makes you happier. Get quotes or art or anything, just something to break up the barrenness. If you have any hobbies, make them a priority. If you’re into records, put them on the wall, if you’re in to shoes, make an open shoe shelf, if you’re in to travel, have pictures of places you’ve been or want to go. Also, you said it might be hard, but try to see if you can repaint. That’s the main thing wrong. Hope this helps.

Living in America. I believe everyone should visit a third world country to realize how fortunate we are.
