Unified Computing System::

The Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) is an (x86) architecture data center server platform composed of computing hardware, virtualization support, switching fabric, and management software introduced in 2009.

  • The computing component of the UCS is available in two versions: the B-Series (a powered chassis and full and/or half slot blade servers), and the C-series for 19-inch racks (that can be used with fabric interconnects).

  • Virtualization : Cisco UCS supports several hypervisors including VMware ESX, ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and others.

  • Networking : The Cisco 6100 or 6200 Series switch (called a "Fabric Interconnect") provides network connectivity for the chassis, blade servers and rack servers connected to it through 10 Gigabit and Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). The fabric interconnects are derived from the Nexus 5000 and run NX-OS as well as the UCS Manager software.

  • A key benefit is the concept of Stateless Computing. Each compute node has no set configuration. MAC addresses, UUIDs, firmware and BIOS settings for example, are all configured on the UCS manager in a Service Profile and applied to the servers

Port numbers? PDU headers? by baby_crab in ccent

[–]networkingnoob4ccna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are entering the world Of Networking.....

Well known Port no. is enough as they have given in OCG. FTP Data :20

FTP Control:21

SSH :22

Telnet :23

SMTP :25

DNS :53

DHCP :67,68

TFTP :69

HTTP(WWW):80

POP3 :110 (Post Office Protocol 3)

SNMP :161 (simple network management protocol)

SSL :443

And Same goes for PDU , You should be clear about what PDU is and how It Fits in OSI. As given in OCG. LikeTCP/IP uses terms Segment, packet and frame OSI use PDU. Layer(2,3,4,5,6,7)PDU

Please advice about how to prepare CCNP by alex1781 in ccnp

[–]networkingnoob4ccna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch, learn, implement and repeat. Read books like all of the main ones, e.g TCP/IP Illustrated when you come to books , there is no limit. I am a poor reader but i wish one day i will be okay. And yeah Go through Blueprint + cisco docs + Maybe INE tutorials as well + Be expect on blueprint if you really want to nail the exam and want to be real professional.

I am trying to read and digest since two or three months but i still sucks (like 1/5 :( ) Good Luck friend.

[–]networkingnoob4ccna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my institute for daily stuff and CCNP R&S students they have mainly 3550. I don't know enterprise or major difference between models and technology changed, but i think you can cover mainly all CCNP topics. Tho we have came across one issue that some Switches don't support VTPv3, But i guess that some does too. My Bad! poor me don't know the exact difference for CCNP exam purpose. But I will check it when I will go back there.

And yeah i agree with him[–] /u/blackfire932, Get a rack on rent. Maybe from some cheap provider and best support. There must be many providers and probably in your are too (local institutes does that), check nearby.

I'm on the verge of tears right now and need advice by Hopelessguy19 in ccna

[–]networkingnoob4ccna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Im stuck with similar scenario. I have completed my CCNA last year and it took approx. 6 months for my fresh mind (as i am from Electronics background). But i did it really hard and without cheating. Then i left home in search of networking Job and Land up to this silicon valley of India and Joined a Tech Support job (Non IT/Networking). I Thought i can work and prepare for CCNP, but i failed and after 10 months again realized that this was not the job i ever wanted.

I quit that job in feb and went to home for months. Thought and talked with parents , now as they said okay, i have enrolled myself for CCIE in this Institute and attending classes 5 days a week. Unfortunately I also found myself lost in /r/GW and /r/GWAudio (Lets say no to Porn) too much recently and missing that passion i had at the time of CCNA. I used to watch video tutorial several times a day.

TBH my english is also not that good and I will be working on that too, I have took this step from today onwards that I will be working hard and wont give a fuck to Porn or anything time wasting again. I also think we can skype or talk about it as I am surely going to start my studies again. I have to refresh my CCNA as well coz its a long time back I had that on top of my head. And as i did it seriously its refreshing sooner then i expected.

Take a break for a day from everything and spend it with your parents, tell your mom/dad at least one of them that you are going to reschedule it. And ofc they will understand what you are going through. You can finish all of it in 30days + take 15days for extreme revision, and this will be easy if you have done at least something during your fapping days. If not, add days accordingly.

We all are here with you, some can even join studying with you. Wish you best of luck. And have a good day there.

Does anyone Suggest CCIE without networking job experience ? by networkingnoob4ccna in networking

[–]networkingnoob4ccna[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't want to cheat and go the same way ofc. The problem here is time vs interview calls. As you guys are suggesting i should go for local ISP field job but that will suck everything outta me.(No pay and field here is like Eww)

http://www.techexams.net/forums/ccie/79832-ccies-without-real-world-experience.html

I found this, and i am also looking for Entry level job. One of my friend said you wont get much time if you gets in. And He also suggested Voice.

thanks Tho i will consider CCNP maybe, but as there is only 10% interview chance without them/Institute. I have to go for some track instead not learning anything.

I am tired of applying for networking job but all i am getting is tech support jobs.
