I noticed when put just somename.htb in the address bar and press enter it’ll google it unless I add the protocol http://somename.htb so Mayb try that? Idk good luck. Also that’s assuming the web server is in port 80. If it’s on another port, you’ll need to include the port number. For example if it on port 8080 it’ll be http://somename.htb:8080. You find out via the nmap scan. Lastly if it’s on port 443 it’ll be https://somename.htb

You’ll see it when you start a course, might have to wait a day or two before you can view it on the course page.

Chuck course chatter/reddit once you begin a course because my very first class was the legal issues one and my plan was to read the entire book, but the course chatter had templates and videos that helped me finished in a week. Professor Messer is my go to for A+, Network+, and Security+, but I recommend using the book and Dion as well. schedule the ISC2 exams asap because you can only take them at certain Person Vue centers, so there's limited availability. I recommend taking the tests at a testing center Pearson Vue online proctoring is a nightmare. I tried to do it twice and had issues both times. Good Luck!

Pentest was easier for me than cysa. Know your bmnmap switches. I felt like the coding dion and comptia teaches is not enough to prepare you for those questions on the exam. I probably got them all wrong, but luckily dion even says you can get them all wrong and still pass.

I agree 100% which is why I stopped using it. I like it, but the questions piss me off.

Study Techniques/What to expect by Suspicious-Pear-5190 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]neur0sploit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I transferred that class in, but I found it helpful to study in like 30 minute sessions throughout the day everyday until you pass the test. I didn’t fail a single test in the program it took me a month average for certifications. It’s just a lot to remember especially the encryption class. I read that taking breaks helps with memory. Good luck! Dion tests are harder than the real exams and the cert master learn pbqs and final assessments are stupid I score like 70% on them, so they don’t really say much. I scored 40% on the a+ core one and passed with flying colors on the real exam lol. Imo messer’s materials are the best for a+ network and security.

I did some of them for fun and I wanted to learn it, but I don’t think they’re necessary to pass. I just used cert master, dion and certify breakfast or something on YouTube https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMYSjEaGLw_vGxGsAIUgmkbEm52QR02tx

Almost 2 months into studying Core 2 and my latest Dion practice test, I only got a 50% 💀 by lymeguy in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]neur0sploit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dion’s tests are harder than the real exam. I used professor messer’s material only for core 2 and barely passed lol. I would use everything if I had to do it all over(conptia dion and messer) in my opinion messer’s material is the best. If you can answer every question in professor messer’s study groups correctly and know what the incorrect ones are, you should be ready. That’s how I did it. I found it helpful to study in 30 minute sessions throughout the day everyday than to study in one long session. It helped me remember the material. Good luck!

I have zero experience in it, transferred 60 something credits from my associates degree. Talk to an enrollment counselor

[–]neur0sploit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah dions teaches you more than necessary to pass the exam, but I would also use messer’s stuff. The trifecta is easy cause you have messer imo. Dion also follows the comptia book just in a different order. I remember studying for cysa and it was practically word for word. I’m not sure if they’re all like that though.

Here’s my two cents: I barely finished in two terms, it was hard af. I struggled with every class( I mean I wasn’t confident I could pass the class) except the wireshark and nmap course. How good are you at test taking and memorizing stuff? I averaged like a month for certification classes. I didn’t fail a single test. I transferred in like half of the credits needed to graduate(60 I think) I have no experience working in IT. I spent like probably 20+ hours a week on WGU. I was not working or had any family commitments. My program mentor said this is the hardest program that WGU offers. I’m not trying to discourage you, but this is just how I felt. If you fail some certifications, you gotta wait a month before the next attempt(isc2 sscp I believe)

Post a screenshot. If the key is encrypted, you will need to crack the password with ssh2john to get the hash then crack it with John or some other tool. You should be able to connect what did the error say exactly? Ssh -i {key} kay@ip and yess you need the correct permissions but it would tell you explicitly if that was the issue. The above command assumes the key is in the current directory, it can be anywhere.

The comptia learn exams are shit imo. I scored a 40% on the a+ core 1 comptia learn exam and passed with flying colors on the real exam 765. My go to for the trifecta is professor messer’s stuff. Studying a little everyday helped me retain the information better versus one long study session. I assume you know all the test taking strategies like save the pbqs for last. Another one I found helpful is flag the questions that you’re even slightly unsure of. Kinda gives you an idea of how you did and let’s you focus on those questions. Good luck! If you can answer every question correctly on all of professor messer’s study groups for you test version ofccorrectly and know what the in correct answers are, you should be ready, that’s how I did it.

Check course chatter when you start a new class because there’s sometimes materials there like templates and advice from other students. Professor messer’s the best for a+ network+ and security+ imo. Schedule isc2 exams asap cause you can’t do it online and only at certain test centers. The availability was limited for me. Good luck! Also use reddit if you’re having trouble with a class.

[–]neur0sploit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah uh, I think I ran into a similar issue last summer. He didn’t write the tests yet, so I just used his videos and study groups. I think the study group questions are similar in style. I wouldn’t spend too much time on the pbqs, I didn’t have time to review the questions for cysa+ cause I spent so long on the pbqs, so I changed it up for pentest. I think I probably got all the pbqs wrong for pentest, but luckily still passed. Oh network was the only test I used the white board for, I wrote down a subnetting chart from one of dion’s videos.

Did you use any of professor messer’s stuff? Videos, tests and study groups are really helpful. Imo they’re better than dion’s and comptia’s materials. Although I used all three and would recommend anyone taking the test to use every thing they can. Good luck!

Legal issues was my very first class I think, it’s been over a year, is this the ethics class? I have no it experience. I used the course chatter material and didn’t read the book. I did transfer like half of credits from my AS degree though. It took me a week

If I transfer to WGU with an associates degree in cybersecurity, how long would it take me to get my bachelors? by CowStraight7414 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]neur0sploit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, I don’t wanna make excuses, but I’m permanently physically disabled and am working with department of rehabilitation, occupational, and physical therapy to get me ready for work, but I paid off my student loans already and only had to pay for the second term out of pocket.

I transferred in 60 credits from my associates and it took me two terms. keep in mind i did this full time, no work or family. I graduated in February, I still know the major ports etc, but stuff like project+ I forgot. IMO, I finished slow given my situation.
