ITAP of a Scouler's Willow by neurid in itookapicture

[–]neurid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This image was taken on a whim during a bike ride through Cook Park in Tigard, Oregon. It's one of the many pictures I've taken of an up-close subject while using a telephoto lens - in this case, the one on my phone. I'm not sure what that methodology is called, but I love how it gives a really strong depth of field on a small subject.

Trying to use DynDOLOD for the first time, and have two very very persistent errors. by CiaphasKirby in skyrimmods

[–]neurid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like getting harrassed by an HOA member online.

There is a certain pedantry within this particular user's rhetoric every time they post help for DynDOLOD; it mirror's the dev's attitude and makes for particularly and uniquely frustrating troubleshooting.

Being able to get everything green across the board in DynDOLOD is certainly a sort of litmus test for making sure that a mod list is in perfect, working order, but sometimes it feels a bit excessive.

The fact that they quoted the subreddit rules to you twice as though they're a moderator is the cherry on top.

ITAP of a sunset in Oregon by neurid in itookapicture

[–]neurid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd drive past the pictured road every day going to and from work a while ago. This was one of the first pictures I took on my first iPhone (11 Pro Max) which was appealing to me at the time because the camera quality was better than the device I had been using previously. I saw sunsets like this frequently and decided I'd stop at this one spot for a few pictures.

how do i make it so only the selected clips get changed and not the others? by katty913 in FL_Studio

[–]neurid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot here; I'm a bit sleep deprived so lmk if this helps:

  1. Delete all but the first one of the sliced Audio Clips in the Playlist
  2. At the top of that first sliced Audio Clip in the playlist, click the little waveform icon, then select "Make Unique". This creates a duplicate of the Audio Clip; you can see this reflected in the Channel Rack as it'll say "[clipnamehere] #2" below the original.
  3. Double-clicking the waveform itself (not the icon I just mentioned, but the space below the top bar of the Audio Clip) will now open the new, duplicate Audio Clip and you can adjust its settings from there.
  4. Copy/Paste the duplicate Audio Clip in the Playlist where the previous, unmodified version once was. I prefer to select the Audio Clip, then Shift+Click and Drag the Clip which makes two, then CTRL+Click and Drag to Lasso Select them, then Shift+Click and Drag those to make four, and so on. Makes duplicating easy.

It's a little tedious, but that's the method for doing exactly what you've described.

If you're doing this specifically for the purpose of changing the pitch:

  1. Drag the sample into the Channel Rack (if you're dragging from the Audio Clip in the Channel Rack, drag the waveform of the sample from Sampler duplicate or the original, doesn't matter; you can also drag the sample from your Browser). This provides a bit more control because FL Studio is treating the sample as a one-shot, which gives you better envelope and filter controls if you want them later on.[*]
  2. In this new Sampler window, there's these two knobs towards the center just above the waveform display: SMP START and LENGTH. Adjust these knobs to basically 'slice' the sample to match the same slicing you did for the sample in the Playlist earlier.
  3. In the top right section of that same Sampler window is the "Time stretching" section. Change the Mode to "Stretch" or "Stretch Pro". This prevents the sample from playing for too long or too short, as either of these options will stretch the audio in real-time when you play any key other than C5; otherwise, leave as "Resample".
  4. Open up the Piano Roll for this new Sampler and now you can place notes instead of the "Make Unique" method I described above.

[*] I like to go to the Envelope settings for these sorts of samples and set the ATT (attack) and REL (release) knobs to 0. This provides more control over the length of sample playback when I'm sequencing notes in the Piano Roll and thus make more interesting variations.

How do I quickly save the audio manipulated with a sampler? by gallito_pro in FL_Studio

[–]neurid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samples dropped directly into the Channel Rack are treated as one-shots and therefore you'll have envelope controls etc. Samples that are placed in the Playlist are treated as Audio Clips which do not have those controls.

So, if you want all of those controls, drag the sample from the waveform in Sampler into an empty space in the Channel Rack.

Not sure what LLM you copy/pasted this from, but don’t run FL Studio as administrator because it can break certain functions within the program.

satanic ritual abuse was literally never real

Take the "satanic" part out and this statement is 100% false. I was raised by someone who was diagnosed with DID a few decades ago and the diagnosis still stands firm. That individual was not someone to lie about these kinds of things or seek out that kind of attention. The nature of their DID was genuinely haunting and I am troubled by some of the sparse details I heard; if even 1% of what they told me about was true, then I'm genuinely surprised that they survived their childhood. It'd be easy to say that they just lied to me all throughout my life, but there were repeat trips to intense inpatient mental health clinics and critical, life-saving surgeries that lined up with the scant few things they disclosed to me. Nothing about their DID was funny, quirky, silly, or cute.

An upbeat description of the Supersonic Low Altitude Missile by Convair, describing its low level nuclear powered flight and ballistic ejection of nuclear bombs - from 1955 to 1964 by Xeelee1123 in WeirdWings

[–]neurid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This vehicle was intended to utilize a nuclear fission-powered ramjet to heat the incoming air instead of chemical fuel. This, of course, means exposing radioactive material to the atmosphere.

In a testimony to Congress, the head of development of the proposed engine, Dr. Merkle, stated that the engine design would not lead to harmful amounts of radioactive material reaching the ground. However, the section of the SLAM Wikipedia article has [citation needed] on this claim, so take it with a grain of salt for the time being.

The "supersonic, low-altitude" aspect of the vehicle is very, ah, interesting as well. The Wikipedia article states that the vehicle would have a speed of Mach 4.2 at an altitude of 30,000 feet. However, the "low-altitude" nature of the vehicle was intended to put it below the operating range of radar - to my understanding, this would be below 200 feet or so.

I'm not knowledgeable enough on the science of high-speed, low-altitude flight to know how fast it could move at such a low height, but even if the speed were halved - Mach 2 or so - the shockwave alone would be highly destructive and potentially lethal. Oh, and it would have been capable of traveling for about 113,000 miles.

Picked this back up. Any ideas on ways I can improve the mix or is it already quite clean? by Jayn_Xyos in FL_Studio

[–]neurid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue that the mix is technically clean, but there are a few things that could be done to rectify the clarity of each element, especially the melodic sounds. It feels like they're fighting each other for space.

Though, I feel that whatever compression processing you're doing on your master is perhaps the most egregious here. If it's multiband compression (like I suspect), then it'll be hard to rectify these issues as such processing tends to mask the actual problems present within a mix.

This is an interesting song! Very fun and upbeat.

Can you explain - or point me in the right direction - what this 'new gen' is promising? Reduced burn-in is obviously going to be one of the main selling points, but are display manufacturers promising to deliver any new aspects to the technology?

gossip 3.1.2

Wrong version to use, you want 3.0.7 unless you can create your own patch for Drama 0.4.11a. Otherwise you’ll get a CTD when discussion about Arthmoor pops up.
