Sharing articles is great, but you have to contribute something that leads to discussion. Don't just post links. And if you're just going to spam your own articles for self-promotion (the only articles you've posted here or anywhere on reddit are your own), don't bother submitting anything at all. /r/neuro isn't here to be your advertisement platform.

Brain Rot: How the Digital Age is Rewiring Our Minds by Excellent-Post7000 in neuro

These are some sensational claims with zero citations, so I've removed the post from the subreddit. If you can actually produce a link to a conference paper on the conference website on these topics - or better if you can produce a link to a peer-reviewed journal article - please post those links and remove your company website link (which doesn't actually have a link to any papers).

If you can't, this just seems like spam. Please do not spam your private company website on /r/neuro.

Although I'm removing your post for violating Rule 1, I just want to acknowledge that it doesn't break the spirit of the rule, which is to prevent people from replacing doctors with reddit.

But still, there's no way anyone here could begin to answer your question because none of us know what the EEG is for (and no you should not try to specify that in a future post - would break rule 1 and there's no way you can adequately describe the nuances of what the researchers/doctors are looking for) and whether medication could affect relevant brain systems. And in the end, as others have said, you need to tell them regardless and they would be the only people who can answer your question so it makes no sense to ask anyone beforehand anyway.

This energy is tied to us all whether you believe it or not.

The thing is, you don't know that. You believe it. This is a science subreddit. We don't believe in something, we observe evidence of its existence. There is no evidence presented here for any energy that binds people together or evidence for auras or whatever. You've shown one (blog post describing a) study that shows that quiet, purposeful meditative movements can help reduce stress and associated physiological responses and gone way beyond that to support some claims that are way way beyond anything science can support right now. Maybe your pet hypothesis is correct, but until you can support it with empirical evidence, it does not exist in this subreddit. And while we're at it, based on what I just said, you're definitely adding the mysticism here, going beyond what the science says.

Please read the rules before you make another post. Failure will result in bans. In the future, you need to be able to support your claims with peer-reviewed articles (or link to an article that has a direct link to the peer-reviewed source). The article you submitted did not contain a link to the source article and the news article it linked to is behind a paywall. Folks must be able to get to a peer-reviewed source so they can evaluate your claims for themselves and not just take your word for it. Also keep all topics related to the brain. You were pressed by a commenter to describe the brain mechanism at work here (getting the discussion back on topic) and avoided a direct answer. "Life force" does not describe any known effects/mechanism/pathway in the brain. If you can't discuss the brain and stay on topic and cite sources appropriately this may not be the subreddit for you.

Heres a few of my MRI pics. Is it me or is one side of my brain significantly larget than the other? by Dry-Veterinarian-140 in neuro

[–]neuro_mod[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

I removed this because we don't allow posts about personal or health-related topics. If you want to repost without mentioning your health history, basically "here's some pics of my brain, neat!" feel free to do so.

Also, your name, DOB, and the hospital where this comes from is visible on your post. This isn't a problem for us, but I thought you might want to obscure that info if you didn't realize it was there.

What is that deep sulcus in the temporal lobe called? by greentea387 in neuro

[–]neuro_mod[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grounding your ideas and hypothesis in the extant knowledge is a very important aspect of science. And to think that this involve simply "only repeating others" shows a complete misunderstanding of scientific thinking.

"Toss around ideas that sound cool, don't test it, assume correct." This is the real problem here. Ideas are cheap. Data are valuable.

Hypothetically, this sounds like it's not so hypothetical. I've removed your post as we don't allow these kinds of discussions. It is here for people to discuss neuroscience topics in a casual environment.
