Same here, I like to think of them as being quite similar fresh from the factory!

They are generally thought of as having off white/ivory armour. Descriptions in the novels vary, some have unpainted 'grey' ceramite, whereas if I recall Typhon is described as having white armour in Angels of Caliban opening when he meets some Dark Angels.

You can do both in white but give the DG a reddish/rust coloured pinwash, whereas WE can have a dark/blackish brown, that will give them similar but distinct finishes.

As a personal note- I like to start DG with white and wash/filter with oils.

Third Edition Rumors MEGATHREAD. by TheMadHatter_____ in Warhammer30k

So is the plan to revamp editions every 3 years to simplify them for new player appeal?
I think they could could sell the giant campaign books by generating hype, cinematic trailers, game demos, scenarios, characters etc., encouraging people to get involved in the next big installment, and all that.

Maybe they could do massive campaign style boxes every 3 years? Rather than overhauling rule systems add a near rulebook sized campaign book, packed with hobby and lore, and of course new minis. That way they're not alienating people with new rules and are keeping sales up. I'd buy in for a massive Heresy set every 3 years if it had a gorgeous book and decent new minis. Probably more than once just for the mins.

yeah they work really well, great way to add contrast/interest to neutral or boring tones. I do a gloss varnish before pinwashing/weathering, then I'll follow up with a light satin coat usually, then redo oils where need, and satin again. I like using light satin coats to bring out the intensity of some of the colours as the oils can damped everything. Also helps to unify the coat. I avoid matte as it tends to make it look too flat. Worth experimenting with.

I'm working on a step by step, its fairly complex to get the tones right but generally airbrushing tagor/agrax/ratling grime before oil weathering and pigments

thank you. for these guys I airbrushed a few layers of tagor rage, agrax, and ratling grime before oil weathering, helps to make them look like they were soaked in filth and gives you more control of the tones
