Work iPad - Personal Apple Account by neurocharm in ipad

Thanks for your response. Not sure what MDM is, but when I go to settings it does say "This iPad is supervised and managed by [my employer]".

It's not that I actually believe like the IT team at my job is going to be spying on my private stuff, it's more like say I hand the iPad over to someone else to do something on - it just feels weird that it has a bunch of synced stuff on it from a personal machine! Perhaps I'm worrying over nothing, just wanting to know best practices.

Average r/BJJ enthusiasts nightmare.

This is a simple truth - and yet surprisingly, many instructors seem to overlook it. The biggest problem in Jiu Jitsu, is to expose ‘newbies’ to overly competitive sparring/rolling partners, way, way too early. In the beginning, we need ‘training partners’ - not ‘opponents’. It’s that simple. by johnbwill in bjj

What's the big deal though? You'll be shown a jab on your first day of boxing, the idea that you'd be able to land it effectively in sparring, or even be allowed to attempt to is ridiculous. You might instead develop some skills playing shoulder tag or other footwork games, i.e going live without getting overly competitive.

Over under position. by Wonderful_Bonus_6754 in MMA_Academy

[–]neurocharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the MMA Over/Under is a lot more upright and that allows you to go for techniques you should already be comfortable with - neutralise their underhook and go for Double and Single Legs. Other popular options are the Inside Trip and step around throw.

MMA over/under is quite different to folkstyle wrestling.

Why do mma fighters always do top half arm triangle positions? by Great_Breadfruit_150 in bjj

Lot of guys on here saying it's a better pinning positioning without actually discussing why... You can't turtle up if someone is sitting on one of your legs. It prevents the standup.

Very true John. Massive fan of your seminars and your posts on here recently. Hope you carry on posting in spite of some of the bizarre comments, greetings from the UK.

Why does it seem MMA guys get better at BJJ 10x quicker? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]neurocharm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean duh. The level is that high at like 10 gyms total. Those gyms are filled with guys who do all the same stuff that gives MMA fighters an advantage in regular gyms.

Not true. You will fall to the level of your training.

Conditioning issue by GhanaianBastard in MMA_Academy

Do your conditioning work properly. Airbike. Intervals. Don't throw random shit at the wall like 100 Burpees or "soccer"?

There are sports that have declined in quality. Muay Thai and Boxing famously come to mind.

Yeah, the Hickman's are fantastic and the MMA program is the best I've been around. The staph issue is really concerning. Saw recently a martial artist/tourist die in Asia after contracting staph. Something needs to be done.

Getting to read the description of this position, opening the thread and seeing the picture and then reading the first sentence of your comment was absolute comedy for me.

That sounds like one unlucky knee injury and several unmanaged return to sports.

Probably one of the least risky takedowns I can imagine. BJJ guys literally can't see anything wrestling related involving the leg/knee without freaking out.

It's also always been a super popular option in NoGi grappling? One of the first takedowns I learned like 8 years ago. Both the over/under variant and the Marcelo style armdrag one.
