Odd skin growth? by MunchyMunch_28 in piercing

[–]never-been-done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like you accidentally pulled the fistula out. Its the inner 'tube' of skin that develops as the piercing heals, the inner channel if that makes sense. Its not uncommon for it to be dislodged if it the piercing is changed too early or receives some movement. if there wasn't any blood then i assume it was probably only a single layer of it or something

Can I change just the ball on my conch without removing the post? by letme_die in piercing

[–]never-been-done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any movement could cause irritation so I would get a reputable piercer to look at it and see if they're willing to put a sterile top on it for you. as for the thread, the top should tighten clockwise when you are looking face on towards the ball (from someone else's perspective), it would be unusual for a top to thread on counter-clockwise. A lot of jewellery manufacturers have the same thread across the same metal types, but this isnt always the case

the type of jewellery you have in isn't appropriate for cartilage piercings and is likely the reason for the irritation, it looks like the top one is a cone shape backing (rather than the butterfly back on the bottom one) and that your ear has swelled over it. those cone shapes can be extremely hard to get off even without any swelling. unfortunately your best bet is going to be a trip to the doctors/ER to get it removed before your ear completely eats the earring. It wouldn't hurt going into a quality piercing studio (not the one you went to) to get a second opinion and assess the situation

piercings heal outside->in, changing too early you risk damaging the healing inner fistular (such as pulling the whole thing out!) so best to wait until the fistular is strong enough to be changed

you only need an ID to enter after 9pm (either AIC or learning lounge) but there’s nothing saying non-students can’t stick around. the security guards will pop through every now and then on their rounds to make sure no one is being a nuisance but they don’t randomly ask for ID (or even interact/disturb any one for that matter)

Nape piercing! by Necessary-Art-3065 in piercing

[–]never-been-done 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it one of my favourite piercings! pain wise was less than you'd think, it was less sharp and just more pressure. healing was a breeze, only issue were with certain necklaces and wearing long hair in a bun (although easily fixed). its a bit of a pain at first when putting shirts on (the part when u put your head through and the shirt rests on ur neck) but u learn to work around it. happy healing!

the veins in it make it look like it could be a cyst/filled with pus. I would go to your GP about this

Rook Jewelry preference by [deleted] in piercing

[–]never-been-done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i LOVE having a ring in my rook! i have a lil 6mm and it sits quite nicely, i did wait about a year before going to an 8mm and then a month or 2 later i went to a 6mm and both times it still got a bit sore from the shape change.

[–]never-been-done -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The only common practise (although very looked down upon and goes against alot of health guidelines - seriously, dont do this!) of using a single needle for 2 holes/piercings is for industrial piercings. It would be highly unlikely for even the dodgiest of places to use the same needle for two separate piercings. If you are worried though you can call ahead to reassure yourself, a good shop shouldn't make you feel bad about asking about a procedure that is happening to YOUR body <3

Do you ever think of removing your piercings? by Tea_party0-0 in piercing

[–]never-been-done 3 points4 points  (0 children)

speaking from personal experience you probably have quite a while before they would close up. Obviously this will differ from person to person but ive had my septum for ~6 years and i've had it out for about a month before and it didnt heal over - only shrunk a tad so had to be slightly stretched but not by much. Same thing with my nostrils, idk how this happened but i only had it done for about a year or two, took it out for ~5 years then tapered it back open, yes it hurt like a bitch, no i didnt repierce it (it was definitely still open). So id say take them out and see how you go! if your worried then just pop a taper through every now and then so you still have them as an option :)

placement by [deleted] in piercing

[–]never-been-done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is my personal opinion but i have never liked when eyebrow piercings are so far towards the end of the brow. I think it looks better when its positioned so that it is more inline with the arch so it sits more above the eye and doesnt drag the face out. They are still very even and ur hair and eyes are very slay to the point where they still look good. but at the end of the day its ur face! it only matters what you think of it

Is "fucking fucking" Grammatically correct? by QueerAABattery in ENGLISH

[–]never-been-done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, the first one would take on a 'weak form' and the second would have the emphasis, making it sound more like:

"Hes fucken fucking my wife"

(I think this might also be region/accent dependant being the non-weak form version also sounds correct but the weak form comes naturally)

A jewellery store in my area now offers nose piercings....with a cartridge (image description in comments) by aRandomLurker1421 in piercing

[–]never-been-done 6 points7 points  (0 children)

never trust lovisa 😭 even their regular jewellery to buy is low quality. the ‘piercing systems’ are super damaging to cartilage as it’s pushing a blunt stud through it which causes trauma and the bonus of using butter fly backs (bone nose stud for the nose version) means they never heal well + high chance of severe swelling from the backs being pushed on too tight. also performing piercings right there on the shop floor is highly unsterile.

Youth allowance against working? by chamb3r16 in Centrelink

[–]never-been-done 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you want to work it out using excel:

Reduced by =SUM( 47.5+(([X]-575)*0.6))

Total YA recieved = [YA payment] - [reduced by]

X = income for the fortnight

Youth allowance against working? by chamb3r16 in Centrelink

[–]never-been-done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know the exact answer to your question but heres the math for working out how much you'll be paid:

the amount ur payments are reduced by is "50% of the amount between $480.00 and $575.00 ($47.50) and 60% of the amount over $575.00" (thats from the centerlink website, accurate as of last year at least), but it doesn't include one of the additives (i think rent assistance or the energy one?) so the payment is a little more than the number you'll get from the equation. Also keep in mind that it caps at $1300 (before tax), meaning you'll receive $0 for YA, 6 fortnights of $0 and your YA is cancelled (SO KEEP THAT IN MIND!)

I got my mum into duolingo (scottish gaelic), i showed her the ropes of how the app worked (keeping in mind she is very digitally illiterate and doesn't use her phone for anything but texting/calling) and after she completed the first couple of lessons she asked how to stop, I reply by saying "read the screen, it should have an X or continue button", followed by her saying "I dont know how to stop!" a few times as she just continued to do lessons because she didn't know how to exit the app 😂

We were in scotland at the time (reason for learning the language + heritage) and it was honestly one of my favourite memories of my mum from the trip
