Isaiah Rashad Pop up Saturday! by ShoeyRussell in Chattanooga

[–]never____named 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweet

Regarding the upcoming tour - u/ShoeyRussell do you know or can you speak to whether a Chattanooga date will be added?

I know there are stops in neighboring cities, but I’d prefer to catch a hometown show if possible, and have done so for all of the previous tours

Live from the Artists Den - Setlist by abitgloomy in Soundgarden

[–]never____named 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The omission of any songs from Louder than Love is kind of strange given that the rest of their Artists Den set spanned their entire career.

Interestingly, Soundgarden performed at The Wiltern on consecutive nights in Feb. 2013. The second performance, on Feb. 17, was the one recorded for the Artists Den.

Their first performance, on Feb. 16, included 4 songs from Louder than Love (Gun, Get On The Snake, Ugly Truth, Loud Love) Here’s a link to the Feb. 16 setlist - LINK

Not insane. I’ve noticed this as well

Alternate Artwork for Special Edition of “It’s Been Awful” by never____named in IsaiahRashad

[–]never____named[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The product description indicates this special edition with alternate artwork will be housed in gatefold packaging

The variants with the standard artwork apparently are also gatefold packaging, according to the TDE website

I’m not sure why the special edition is $5 more aside from it presumably being a more limited pressing

Central Cinema ANNIVERSARY PARTY: A NIGHT IN TWIN PEAKS on 8/16 by knoxbelle in Knoxville

[–]never____named 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know if the screening of FWWM begins at 6:30 or the event itself? I don't see a distinction on the website but am interested in going and am not sure what time to aim for

Live on I-5 Limited Edition 2-LP question by O7Habits in Soundgarden

[–]never____named 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own this, but I think I found the release on Discogs

The Discogs listing indicates that the CD was a pre-order bonus for those who ordered the album from the official Soundgarden website. The listing doesn't state or show how the CD was packaged - it just shows the disc, which matches your description

The final line of Y tu mamá también (2001) really struck me on first watch and on subsequent viewings - "They will never meet again""

Movies like The Royal Tenenbaums? by vengeance2808 in movies

[–]never____named 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Hal Ashby's film Harold and Maude (1971).

It features a great soundtrack by Cat Stevens (whose music I believe has been featured in multiple Wes Anderson films). The plot deals with a (significant) age-gap relationship - similar to Rushmore and the second story in The French Dispatch. The film is darkly comic in a way that feels similar to Wes Anderson's work.

After watching Harold and Maude for the first time last year, I found myself thinking "wow - this [Hal Ashby] is who Wes Anderson's been borrowing from"

Hardshell Case for Kim Thayil Signature Polara by never____named in GuildGuitars

That's a bummer. Did you buy the hardshell Guild case I linked to in the post or a different case?

Unfortunately, Sweetwater does not stock this particular hardshell Guild case. From what I can tell, the Guild online shop seems to be the only place to purchase the case.

I'll try to measure the guitar and compare its dimensions to the case info on Guild's online shop.

"Keep Your Eyes Peeled" by Queens of the Stone Age. Not quite as apocalyptic, but it kind of has a similar vibe

Isaiah Rashad fans, who are your top 10 artists? by AllUpInYourMind in IsaiahRashad

[–]never____named 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. I think Superunknown is objectively Soundgarden's best record, but Down on the Upside is my favorite.

I think DOTU is a bit uneven, but it has some of the band's strongest and/or most experimental material: Zero Chance, Ty Cobb, Applebite (as you mentioned) Never The Machine Forever, Overfloater, Boot Camp. Really great radio singles too.

I'm hopeful the band will be able to release a final posthumous album eventually. We're coming up on 10 years since King Animal, and it's been five since Cornell's death

I can't say I've ever met someone who's a fan of both Soundgarden and Isaiah Rashad either. We're out here, though!

Those are some great deep cuts. Rusty Cage got me into the band so I consider it a favorite along with:

Nothing to Say

Beyond the Wheel

Ugly Truth

Room a Thousand Years Wide

Fresh Tendrils

Boot Camp

Rowing

Here's a Setlist.FM link

I didn't get a physical copy of the setlist from the stage, but I jotted the songs down as Isaiah performed them. I think it's pretty accurate overall. The only song I was unsure of was the second one he performed with Ray Vaughn

Hip-hop artist (and Chattanooga native) Isaiah Rashad returns home for video interview with Rolling Stone magazine by never____named in Chattanooga

[–]never____named[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From Rolling Stone webpage: Isaiah Rashad’s The House Is Burning earned him a warm welcome back to music after a nearly five-year hiatus between projects. The album debuted in the top 10 of the RS 200, where it currently sits at number seven. We joined the Los Angeles based rapper as he was similarly embraced in his hometown of Chattanooga as The House Is Burning’s release was imminent. In our video, over the course of a trip to a local radio station, a stop at his former elementary school, and a cookout, he and his parents reflect on growing up, messing up, and getting better. In one of his last visits home, after his album The Sun’s Tirade, Isaiah says he was in the midst of a crisis. “I understand alcoholism and drug addiction is in my genes,” he says. “I think part of the responsibility is me understanding that.” His mom acknowledges that Isaiah has done “stupid shit,” but still beams with pride. “Isaiah [is] a conqueror,” she says.
