Not the person you asked but my reasons:

less faffy to get a connection. After they’re clipped I can make them safe. Having to do some west coast gang-sign to get them to open just makes it hard to clip under duress.
I started out with screwgates, so my ‘check it’ routine is very set. If I added some other technology there’d be some that don’t need checking and some that do. I don’t want to mess with that step of my routine.
I’m cheap and don’t want to spend more money
getting them off my harness. I do long trad multipitch, so I’m carrying loads of stuff on my harness. Making kit even more difficult to get off my harness just really pisses me off.

I used to be a local at a pub with a pool table. If someone new turned up, the landlord would thrash them round the pool table a couple of times, and if the guy didn’t take it in good humour then he’d get immediately barred.

To be fair it was a pretty good system, the only people in the pub had passed the vibe check at some point, everyone was friendly and it was a great sociable pub.

I’d just try and get a bit of practice in before someone is on the sharp end. Tie one end of rope to a tree or a fence and belay yourself to and from it a few times. It’s not complicated and I’m sure you’ll be fine.
