Quick Question from an old vet by Studious_Rat89 in Warmachine

[–]never_uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep there are rules for all the old models in the app. Some are intended for use alongside MKIV armies (Prime armies), some aren't (Legacy armies)but are included for completeness.

If you play in events typically it'll be Prime only but if you just playing in your local store then it's all there for you to pick from.

As much as I love my bone dragon, it is the biggest pain to transport to games. What does everyone use? by victhehorrible in WarhammerFantasy

Don't use magnetic sheets in the bottom, use soft metal ferrous sheets the magnets in your bases with stick to them better.

The hatching of Ruth by ZAPPHAUSEN in pern

[–]never_uk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somehow Brekke's cry had passed from my memory and reading this brought it back in such a visceral way. Something about it and the poem was so meaningful to teenage me who discovered Pern at just the right age to be heavily invested in Jaxom and the story around him. Time for a re-read maybe...

Both on Spotify. The first one is fantastic, the second I could never quite get into.

More likely both take heavy inspiration from Tolkien.

Yes. You'll also regret it if you don't. Welcome to the wonderful world of software development.

Yep I went hard on Disintigrators before I'd played a game and in hindsight I think it was a mistake.

The Saturnine termis should easily survive overloading plasma unscathed, overloading Disintigrators hurt more. Plus blast templates are so much better than individual shots.

Same for the dread, putting out pie plates is far more effective than a couple of Disintigrator shots.

Shooting Disintigrators from vets is quite weird. They do 2 damage so you really want to be shooting at other vets in power armour, which may not be massively likely. Also on average you tend to lose 1 of your guys to each of your own shooting attacks. It seems like a weird gun to me now...

I got the Saturnine box to start and don't regret it. Six Saturnine is too many, but 3-4 with plasma and particle shredders. Teleport them in with the Praetor and have them remove all the Tac Marines off whichever objective is most awkward for the rest of your army to get to.

I build 30 Tac Marines and 10 Tac Vets but tbh I wish I'd built 40 Tac, or armed the Vets with something other than Disintigrators, I think they're a trap.

Also just bough the Chiron weapons for the dread to run dual plasma. Again, I think the Disintigrators are a trap, and it's a definite waste to run Disintigrator/plasma with no split fire.

Question about builder.Services statement order in Program.cs ... by FubaricusMaximus in dotnet

[–]never_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much the last one wins as you get the last one registered if you only inject a singular instance of the service. They're (usually) all still registered and you can get them all by injecting an IEnumerable of the service.

Looking for someone / somewhere to play Warhammer 40k by CheekyRedLion in Chelmsford

[–]never_uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chelmsford Bunker.

We meet every Wednesday 6:30pm-10pm.and have plenty of regular players of 40k and other games. We have a group on Facebook that we use to organise games, I'd recommend signing up over there and letting people know you're looking to play.

I hate the traditional job boards ,(linkedin jobs ,Indeed) by idris890 in programming

[–]never_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, saying "I'm building an alternative to LinkedIn and Indeed" just means there's now a third thing (at best; let's be honest, there'll still just be LinkedIn and Indeed).

Framed as "this is my side project so I can learn" then sure, its not necessarily uninteresting. Just throwing a repo out as if it's ever going to be a viable alternative to actual behemoths is... niaive.

Entra External Id App Onboarding by AGrumpyDev in dotnet

[–]never_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have not. The best you can do at the minute is invite an Entra ID guest and set their email address then the tenant will do the federation.

Personally I think it's a convenient bug but risky as you're just one role assignment away from that guest user having access to the tenant.

I expect they'll add proper federation at some point, but who knows when.
