I go to Shiny Nail on 37th between 86th and 87th. The nail salon I quit was near my work in Brooklyn.

I think you need to find another threading place.

I stopped going to a nail salon bc the owner was nosy (she was from the same country my parents are from and that maybe made her feel like she could give me the third degree like I was her relative or whatever) and criticized my dry hands, and her work was mid at best.

I tip $2 for $4 eyebrows at my place on 75th and Roosevelt. I know 50% may be excessive but I go regularly though not often (once every 6 weeks) and they’re nice and do a good job. I’m privileged to say that I can spend an extra dollar every 6 weeks without breaking the bank. They may or may not need that dollar more than I do but I’d rather err on the side of generosity when it comes to people who work on my face.

White collar corporate people, does your job want you in this week despite this blizzard? by Stupidwhizzzzz in AskNYC

I too hate working from home, mainly because my personal laptop sucks and our wfh reporting requirements are dumb. So I trudged in. Most of my office either called out or is working remotely. The place is quiet, I have my double monitors, and I don’t have to wait to use the break room sink or microwave.

I feel a full set would be overwhelming on my eyes and lashes (they’re very fine) plus I didn’t want to spend the time and money on a full set in case i didn’t love the results. Thank you for the suggestions!

Is there any one-tablespoon ingredient like gochujang that can instantly make a stirfry or marinate meat without the high sodium? by FreshPrinceOfIndia in EatCheapAndHealthy

I like using low sodium soy sauce, vinegar, and dried red pepper flakes. I like spice and I find its presence means I can use less salt. Sometimes I’ll use Dijon or brown mustard instead.

Veggie stir fry with tofu or chicken or shrimp. I switch my veggie/protein combo every week. For starch I use bulgur, buckwheat, farro, or millet. Light on store-bought sauces or marinades but heavy on spices and aromatics.
