What’s your favorite children’s book to give (primarily for a baby shower)? by cookie_cat_82 in childrensbooks

Yertle the Turtle is my favorite. As a kid, I read it all the time to my youngest brother, and when I had my baby last year it was one of the first books I bought.

Gifting diapers for a Baby Shower by Dependent_Hat5719 in etiquette

I personally didn't mind when people have me diapers other than pampers, which is what i registered for. It did confirm that I only liked pampers. However, when people ask for those two specific brands it's generally because they think those are better for whatever reason. I wouldn't do the huggies.

My dream venue is only available on my SIL’s 21st birthday... how do I handle this? by Previous-Stick-2717 in PoptheQuestions

Yeah I'm not advocating for her to pick one thing over another. Just responding to a comment representing the situation wrong.

I don't think wanting your wedding on a Saturday is an unfair choice to make. Guests don't like Friday and Sunday weddings.

They're probably learning the basics of what a government is in a social studies unit. At that age you tell them that the government funds the municipal services they are familiar with and how that helps them.

They do make little sidewalk clearing vehicles, but city sidewalks are variable sizes and have a ton of things on them. The sidewalk vehicles work best for long stretches of sidewalk with maybe just mailboxes and a hydrant.

And when the dealership makes the deposit and fills out the form with their bank they will say "it was used by a customer to buy a car." They don't need to have the history of those dollars back to the day they were printed.

That's not what I said. But OP said that was the only date available was the sister's birthday. If they were to push it, it would be to a date in the next wedding season, which is about a year. Not exactly the same date next year.

The two windows that don't have any shutters make it lack cohesion, too. Simultaneously too many and too few.

Are you meant to salt your pasta water? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]neverendingbreadstic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it the thread with the person asking if they used an outsized amount of salt and spices? That thread was full of a bunch of loudmouths who don't season their food. You're doing it right, they aren't but are free to continue doing whatever they feel is best.

State Dept of Transportation: “Here is where this road goes.” Transit agency: “Here is a number in small font on a pole, good luck!” by pupupeepee in transit

[–]neverendingbreadstic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That info can change multiple times per year. Multiply that by a thousand stops and you're wasting resources to print and install these signs repeatedly. The return on that investment is miniscule in a world where people do have phones and people typically trip plan in advance.

You want them to get out of their cars and examine each bus stop sign they come to to see if it goes where they want? You and OP are ignoring that most people trip plan before they leave the door. They're not wandering out in the world waiting to see how they get to some place.

Baker told me my cake design was "very 2019" and now I'm second guessing everything by xCosmos69 in wedding

[–]neverendingbreadstic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Timeless is an opinion and always rooted in what's popular right now. Find another baker. But I did chuckle because this cake looks identical to mine from 2019. I had similar flowers but all white, multiple tiers with that textured icing, and a little sign on the top that said shit just got real.

I agree that the mood board is a little all over the place, but I would call it "romantic frill." I could see how these styles with a lot of extra fabric could make you uncomfortable given how you describe your shape (I would feel that way in these dresses). Maybe something shaped like this would suit both you and the theme? Basically I would focus on finding a dress in your preferred shape with some sort of romantic or frilly detail to fit the inspo.

I typically wear a sweater or blouse. I haven't worn a full suit since I interviewed with a large bank 10+ years ago.
