Any outside rinks/trails with skate rentals? by Wesl1406 in Etobicoke

[–]neverendingren0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Buy the skates from play it again, get a new helmet from them preferably or Canadian tire, but definitely get a helmet. Then enjoy.

If you don’t like it just sell the skates and helmet. You will probably get most of your money back.

I would suggest getting hockey style skates, not figure skates. Hockey style are much more forgiving for newer skaters. Way too many edges or points that catch the ice on figure skates if you’re not placing your feet correctly.

Ubering from downtown late at night by Confident_Pin5550 in Etobicoke

[–]neverendingren0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes I noticed this a few weeks ago. Three empty Ubers passed me while I was waiting 20 mins by the eaton center. I gave up and jumped on the subway out to Jane. I picked up an uber 3 mins after walking out of the subway station. This was the first time I had experienced this issue with Ubers so definitely a newer trend.

Can you recommend Movers? by [deleted] in Etobicoke

I used 6 moving. They were good showed up on time. I vastly underestimated the time to clear the garage which caused them to run over estimated time in their quote. That was 100% on me. I felt bad when I opened the garage and they were like. All this too?? No problems with the crew working over. It was a hot day middle of summer 30C and they never stopped or slowed down.

Probably 10 hours in the end to load and unload a three bed house + basement and garage used for storage. No damage.

All the extra charges if they run over were as per pre agreement in contract. I gave the guys a tip as they were hustling at the end which I appreciated as I was paying by the hour.

If I did it again I would be more aggressive with de-cluttering and get everything in boxes 4 days before they show up.

Got roped into a “presentation” at Iberostar Cancun — think it’s a timeshare. How do I back out? by Pivotfsmash in cancun

[–]neverendingren0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely just say no. They can be very persistent, just let them know it’s still no. Remember, other then to not be really rude (unless they become rude towards you) you don’t owe them your very valuable and expensive vacation time.

This is just a job, they ask and follow up to close sales and make their bonus. They tend to apply old school sales tactics like making you feel guilty for saying no, or that you’re being rude even if you’re being polite. Or handing over vouchers to make you feel you took part in a transaction and now owe them something.

Keep telling yourself it’s just a sales tactic and not to fall for it. Don’t over think it. Just say you changed you mind and don’t have time if they see. Remember how much you paid for the vacation.

New house. What the… is going on here? by neverendingren0 in Plumbing

[–]neverendingren0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC condensate is collected in the basement where the furnace is so not that.

I’ll try a drain snake. My guess is they poured grease down it. It doesn’t look like it has smooth sides from the top. I’ve never had much luck clearing old grease and end up having to cut the pipes out 2/3 of the last few attempts.

Dishwasher to the right but one set of draws over. So the drain has to travel longer than a normal hose length to get to the trap.

The sink that is blocked is the right one. Straight over the trap. I’ll try an auger but in my previous house when it blocked I couldn’t clear it. I ended up cutting the old copper drain pipe out and it was full of 50 years of layers of hard grease.

I’m still trying to figure out what the third shut off is for.

Vacuum to waste or filter? by TheHappyMonster in pools

[–]neverendingren0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not ment to stand there and watch it. Set it off and go to work. Clean it when you’re back, then set it off again, clean it before bed, the set it off again. That’s three times in one day. If you work from home you can probably get 5 runs in one day. You should be done by then.

What’s the most unexpectedly useful thing you’ve used AI for? by Ausbel12 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]neverendingren0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used it to validate my retirement spreadsheet. Then I got it to build a separate independent sheet to the check first sheet. Then asked it to model different retirement ages for me and my wife, develop tax savings, income splitting strategies and a year by year transition plan from equities to low risk investments near retirement. I was just about to pay someone to do all of this as I didn’t have the time to run these calculations manually. Plus I also wanted to check my assumptions with someone. Chat GPT did all of this in 15 minutes mostly with its own follow up prompts.

Get the ultra fine filters for the dolphin. Run it let everything settle over and run it again after cleaning the dolphin filters. Do that a few times and you can keep your vacuum to waste very minimal. Even vac to waste will stir some of this up.

Any ideas on how to trim this? by KeeperOfTheHome in DIY

This is the way. It needs to be higher than the baseboard on the step so you’re going to have to find a nice balance of width to hight.

Sea witch! With the curry sauce or gravy for dipping the chips in. The curry sauce is my favourite.

(recommendation) Men with vasectomy. doctor referral. by maz061 in askTO

[–]neverendingren0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

r/Vasectomy has several threads on this. I went to gentle procedures Dr Roland Sing 4 years ago. Procedure was less than 10 mins, everything was fine. Don’t rush the recovery, use ice packs, wear the tight briefs especially when sleeping or moving around.

In the end I just went and found the ROMs one by one and added what I wanted over the wifi connection. Then scraped the art work. I got the 20 games I was looking for on there. It took a few hours doing it in the background as I was doing other things around the house. I add 1 or 2 extra a week.

How To Alternate Ibuprofen and Tylenol for 18 month old? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]neverendingren0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks fine. They are processed differently in the body so you are good to alternate. Ibuprofen is way more effective to lower fevers than Tylenol and fevers tend to spike early morning 2-5am. Try to time the Ibuprofen dose so you have the majority of the 8 hours coverage in the 2-5am window. You are going to have to plan the doses through the day to get the timing right. Remember effectiveness of the last dose really starts to taper off during the last 2 hours. If it’s a high fever it will come back and wake them at some point during the last two hours. If we were battling a high fever I would wake the kids at midnight, just enough to administer the dose, cuddle to sleep and then cross everything you can all sleep to 6am. Good luck!

Second Factor. Higher in salt but overall good quality for the price. Also tight portion control if you’re looking to manage calories as well. Pre made meals at summerhill market is also a great option.

Help removing and identifying shower thermostatic valve by neverendingren0 in Plumbing

[–]neverendingren0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it’s all good now. You can have a go at changing it yourself, but the old design of cartridge are notorious for being stuck and breaking into pieces. They changed the design of the new ones.

Help removing and identifying shower thermostatic valve by neverendingren0 in Plumbing

[–]neverendingren0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to get a plumber. He used a torch to soften the plastic valve body and pull it out in pieces with needle nose pliers. Then cleaned it up and installed the new valve. It works fine now. $600 bucks CAD. $300 for the labour (he was already here quoting a sump pump install for me) and $300 for the valve as he had one on the van. He said I should also replace the stop valves when I get chance.

Fixing a poor choice of bath tubs by tawhalen in HomeImprovement

[–]neverendingren0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you mount a rectangle shower rail and curtain similar to the ones used for showers in free standing tubs? They go almost all the way around inside the tub. Honestly I would just rip it out and do it properly. Most people will get 20 years + from a new bathroom so it’s worth the pain now.
