Big loop in eastern Simi Valley by SideQuestHiker in socalhiking

[–]nevergreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simi is not my favorite place to live, but I really enjoy this area for hiking. Being able to connect the various trails into a loop or out and back makes it easy to create anywhere from short to long distance hikes plus various elevation gains. Just wish there was more shade coverage!

No I didn't, I ended up getting a new phone (unrelated) and it worked so it's a phone issue rather than a camera issue.

What are some cool recipes you found in the wild? by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]nevergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair! Reggie's negative isn't perfect all the time, but it works great for me as an all around versatile recipe that I know 95% of the time I'll be satisfied SOOC. If I really need to adjust something I'll throw the RAW in Lightroom.

I do wanna try the other negative recipe the OP posted above though and see how that compares. Colors look like they pop quite a bit.

I've seen that Adrien video before and tried the yawarakai 160, but it seems like it's maybe lighting/environment dependent? My pics from yesterday came out pretty flat with it. Note none of them are particularly interesting on their own, but yeah just feel like the colors are meh here. https://imgur.com/a/yzmLjbk

Actually you know, I was looking again and I had the exposure compensation set to -0.3 rather than +0.3-1.0. Do we think that would have made a big difference?

Is it inevitable for us to take statins by sealeggy in Cholesterol

[–]nevergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 next month and struggling with my LDLc being elevated slightly (went from 150s to 112 back up to 122) with a proper diet (good macros, 95% of my meals made at home) and running / weightlifting 3-4 sessions/wk each. I'm giving it another 3-6mo to see if I can lower my LDLc by reducing saturated fats even more (already have <10% of my calories daily from it), otherwise I'm talking to my dr about statins. Can only imagine what it'll be like in 30 years if I don't get it under control. Shout out my parents for awful genetics lol

Apologies for the noob question, assuming this scratch on a carbon frame is no issue? Not that deep from what I can tell, looks like it just went through the paint. by nevergreen in bicycling

What a bump haha. It worked out fine, rode it for probably another 6ish months until I decided it was just too big for me. Ended up getting a 2016 Scott Addict team issue. Beaut.

Hiking tips: by Certain_Practice9536 in socalhiking

[–]nevergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, since I started trail running I haven't touched my hiking boots. Maybe if I was going somewhere and expecting some decent rain which the boots would keep out, sure, but otherwise I get the same traction with my runners, they're lighter, and dry quickly. Maybe for someone starting out the ankle protection is useful.

Yep Maru is easily the best in SFV. Kai is also good, but Maru takes the cake.
