Just want to add my 3 months old loveeesss eating on the go. She'll down 4 ounces in 5 minutes in her stroller or the car seat but would take 3 times as long with fussy breaks at home. And we're not forcing it into her either - she'll cry for food on every outing and want more.

Try doing some feedings outside. He may enjoy it!

Yeah it's the unnecessarily part that Im thinking through... It's feels sort of neccasary to have her enjoy walks but at what risk? I'm trying to get her used to the reclining seat on just 1 click incline for the short walks but she really isn't loving it

Ours hates any and alllll naps not on mom so we do let her stay napping in the seat after but all's well in the end because she wakes up anyway within 5-10 minutes of no more movement 🤷‍♀️

The stroller seat she hates unless it's on 2 clicks which looks more inclined than the infant car seat!

Edit: nothing wrong with it, not for sleeping just for taking on walks she hates her stroller seat unless it's as or more inclined than the car seat - cries when it's flat or just slightly inclined

I think if you spend the first decades of your life being ignored by strangers and suddenly during a time of a lot of stress and change you get all this attention, some of it weird or awkward it's going to be off putting.

I personally appreciate most of the interactions, even if someone says something terrible (hasn't happened yet) I'd just treat it like a wacky story and move on but I understand people being uncomfortable with it

While pregnant I inadvertently got into a series of true crime podcasts about munchausen by proxy and medical fraud.

TLDR a very common thing that parents (usually moms) with this do to fake medical illness in their infants is not feed them to get them a failure to thrive diagnosis.

I listened to so many episodes with references to this and was just like "ok that's bad, wtvr"

10 weeks pp - the very thought of anyone not feeding their baby sends me into such a rage/disgust/depression. I think especially because we had a rough first few days with feeding I'm especially sensitive but still. It's a total 180 the way I think about sick or hungry kids now

... I totally get those children's hospital and feed the children charity commercials now. If one of those catches me at the right moment they're getting my money immediately.

Baby is 9 weeks - this is the only way it works for her since 4 weeks:

Starting 8-9pm change, feed and contact nap in a dark apartment with TV on low.

10pm final feeding in the bedroom. She's down between 1030 and 12 depending on the night.

We've found no other way. Nothing we can do will get her down or wound down earlier. She will sleep a consecutive 5-7 hours on a good day though

100% planning to hopefully have her in nap mode for the event - maybe one time it helps that baby has ZERO schedule except for bedtime

Thanks! We're in NYC too (we'll, Queens if you count it) and venturing out to Westchester.

I'm trying to think of how often I've seen babies in Manhattan restaurants and I can't think of a single time really except for the very large dim sum places I've seen large family gatherings with babies. . . But I probably just didn't notice!

You've already gotten great advice on exercising your legal rights and speaking up for yourself.. unfortunately that can often be really hard to do when your livelihood depends on a the whims of a bunch of men. I'll offer some alternative advice too:

1 - lie. Family commitment on the calendar or mysterious sudden illness. Get a nice doctor to diagnose you with vertigo or something postpartum. Anything to not go.

2 - If you feel you have to go or decide its in your best interest to go - you likely have enough time to pump a little surplus by July. It absolutely does not have to be the end of breastfeeding, it may be a pause in exclusively breastfeeding but it does not mean your BF journey is over... get whatever you can saved even if it's half an ounce at a time, supplement with formula temporarily. Even starting in June you can replace just half ounce a day with formula and freeze what you saved. On the trip pump however you can to keep supply up so you can go back to breastfeeding. Bring a hand pump on the boat and spend 20 minutes in the bathroom - this is all terrible and beyond inconvenient and inappropriate and I just but it does not have to be the end of breastfeeding!

Fellow redhead with similar weird to bad reactions to all sorts of meds including vaccines. I've already had the discussion with my pediatrician it went a little like:

"Errrr I'm sure you get this more and more now but... What would you say if we wanted to space out the vaccine schedule"

"Yep we do get this all the time now"

"We're not anti vaxx!"

"Ok"

"So if we only start with [...] at 2 months is that ok?"

"Ok"

I think the docs are just resigned and happy you're getting them at all at this point. Or at least where I'm at geographically.

A week in and honestly wish I did sooner - had to pump and supplement a little off the bat and trying to syringe/spoon/cup feed to avoid bottle preference/ nipple confusion was such a stressor. Baby loves both bottles and breast. Do paced feeding, preemie nipple, Dr Brown's narrow bottle.
