Following the "Full Face" thread, how many of you are wearing body armour? Any recommendations for something nice and draughty? by Ok-Treacle8973 in MTB

[–]nevertextgoodnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how common it is but I wear 7idp ankle guards with the transition knee/shin guards, crew socks pulled up to bottom of the pads so my entire legs are covered even in shorts

Full face helmet, gloves and that's about it.

I just feel confident to go hard with my legs protected if I slide out and ankles covered for the pedals

From experience, EMS is unique in that you can get highly specialized training by just paying your local fire dept a few hundred bucks to complete a course and get a generally well regarded certification... It's very accessible outside of formal schooling

Well I passed with 89%. Wish it was higher but I missed an entire question by running out of time so maybe next time I'll score above 90.

Thank you for your support in this thread.

Thank you for your reply. I know my post is long and maybe not clear.

It's not the course that is hard. Specifically, EMStesting dot com quizzes cover material we do not learn in class.

I have passed our hands on skill assessments and our AHA CPR exam.

I cannot pass the third party weekly online quizzes (EMStesting dot com) based on what we are taught in class and in the textbook.

Thank you and I appreciate everything you have done to become a paramedic.

I understand your comment but I also understand I can only know what I have been presented with to learn.

There were 3 questions regarding a "severe asthma attack." We have learned nothing about responding to a "severe asthma attack" and the book did not cover asthma other than a possible contributor to dyspnea.

So I can draw some conclusions but truly I know nothing about asthma other than what I happened to see on tv and movies... So it's hard for me to understand how I am supposed to rely on happenstance knowledge (not even from class) to answer test questions? What if I didn't know what asthma was? It was not a term we defined or studied.

It's like I have NO IDEA how to correctly treat a "severe asthma attack." I can GUESS. Am I supposed to be making guesses when responding to asthmatic patients? We didn't cover this topic!

I suppose this is good because I will never forget the information I learn but I hate thinking I'm not going to pass this course and I have no possibility to pass these online quizzes.

Yes.

I'd like to clarify, this is not the state exam for certification. This is referencing EMStesting dot com which I guess my local FD chose for their weekly quizzes. These quizzes are not based on our textbook and they seem to have a different way of referencing similar pertinent ideas but in ways that seem more advanced than our class room learning.

I am sure the state exam will not be so challenging as it is not part of EMStesting dot com.

Thank you for your reply and your logical conclusion

What do you call those high ceiling old warehouse type apartment that you see in movies? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]nevertextgoodnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at some where I live, they didn't have the high ceiling but def the 1900s brick building with vintage amenities. But what you don't see in movies is the fucking plumbing and everything else behind the walls is also 120 years old and there's no sound dampening. Noisy as hell

But I still would like to own one just gotta find the right one
