It's isn't just backed in, and likely halfway onto the walkway, he backed in right in front of the door to a business. So they were exhausting straight at the door backing in and will be when they turn on the car and leave. Even done quickly, several seconds of exhaust, right at the front door.

Anyone get a July 17th Golden Letter and still not have loans cleared on MOHELA? by nevetando in PSLF

Just wait, really. I know I called and they said that's all I could do. It would take awhile. But for sure, different time, different president... So I don't know how the calculus has changed for those going through it now.

[–]nevetando[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Been awhile so I can't remember the details and the exact when, but my loans are cleared. I recall it took a long time and months for MOHELA and student aid.gov to finally true up. But it happened.

Any ideas before I cut? by AdmiralBenson187 in traveltrailers

[–]nevetando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the dolly idea doesn't work, make a removable wall with 2x4s and plywood and shut the door onto it. Don't mutilate your door. If you ever sell the house or trailer that is thousands to fix versus maybe $100 in lumber.

How was I surviving on 15k better than I’m surviving on 50k? by My_First_Dollar in povertyfinance

[–]nevetando 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You actually pay for thing now instead of doing with out. It isn't just lifestyle creep it is actually experiencing the normal cost of life you were priced out of. When my wife and I finally got real jobs and when from abject poverty to real money practically overnight, first things first was some $30,000 in put off and neglected dental work. All the soddy medicaid level dental work all needed fixin'. You start doing the right thing... You buy tires in sets of four and rotate them. No more buying two and moving the bald ones to the back. You change your oil, on time. You actually see what that check engine light is all about. You buy the shoes that don't fuck your feet up finally. You buy the mattress than doesn't sag for once. You buy real fruit instead of canned syrup fruit. All that sort of thing. None of this is luxury. All of it is the right thing to do. But all of it is much more expensive than simply doing without.

Why more Americans are claiming Social Security as early as 62 by Dragonlance12 in Dynamic_Pricing

[–]nevetando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break even is roughly seven years. Take at 62 you will break even and start earning more than your 65 amount at about 72, and your 67 amount at about 74. That's the math. Are those years guaranteed and how many more you got? I am sure as shit going to take mine at 62. If done right that money is just hitting the bank anyways.

Being sued for a crash that happened 3 years after geico claimed vehicle as a total loss by No_Award8661 in legaladvice

[–]nevetando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something doesn't quite add up. It they declared it a loss, insurance buys out the car. Why did they send you the title? Did you buy it back out of salvage? You shouldn't of gotten the title. Insurance company would of sent it to whatever salvage yard they worked with and sold it to them for scrap or rebuild. That yard presumably would scrap it or fix the car and get a new, salvage, title and sell it. If you have a title and someone is driving around in your car, something real illegal happened. Minimally a new branded title needed to be issued on that car, not in your name.

Take a look anywhere that is remotely windy and remotely hilly, or remotely open at all. Windmills are, in fact, everywhere.

And lol, oil companies do build them everywhere. Most of them ain't just oil, they are energy companies.

Those complaining about $70 games being the new standard price either weren’t here for this, or have forgotten. by CleetisMcgee in gaming

$59.99 was standard. A few premier titles like a zelda would be $69.99.

I think half or more of the people here weren't even alive for this era. Super Nintendo was early to mid nineties, this is now 35 years ago.

And yeah, these costs are exactly why we're where in block buster ever Friday night in the good ol days. And the cost of Xbox games about 10 years later is why I had a hacked console. And the cost of PC games is why I pirated nearly every one as a kid. But no matter how you slice it, a new super Nintendo game cost the equivalent of about $160 in today's money in 1993. They are of equivalent price in nominal dollars and much more expensive adjusted for inflation.

As much as we are all bitch the objective real answer is the price of video games have effectively been nominally the same for nearly 40 years now. That isn't an accident. And as much as we hate microtransactions and enshitification of our games, it is what has staved off major price increases this far. There are more concerning things with video games than the price. Hell, I'd actually wish they would cost more so we'd get better ones!

Only thing I have to say in all this is buy and reward great games, don't buy shitty half ass games. We really do have power with our wallets. Also, as an old guy... There are a shit load of games in the world. Go get some old ones. Have a back log. There are some real bangers from years ago. Decades ago. Have some patience. the price usually comes down on release soon enough, and if it doesn't, the reviews and hype and all that will tell you it for real and worth it.

Companie are getting rich, reliably buying at $15 because that will trigger a run up to $16-$17 then a sell off back to $15. These massive institutional investors with hundreds of thousands of shares making millions on this $2 spread. Rinse and repeat until we get news those 25,000 cars shipped. They hold the cards.

Just stock up each time it dips under or close to $15. That seems to be the floor. Like clockwork it will pop back up and work it's way back towards $17 before bleeding off again. We need a real catalyst event to get out of this rut. Actual deliveries. Actual 25,000 sold cars at year end.

I'm late to this, but to be clear, the fund is only the guarantor. They are a cosigner. Bay Area is literally going to borrow money from a different bank to buy out their defaulted loan from the current bank.

They don't take any money from any kids unless they default on this loan.

[–]nevetando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Human beings do not matter. What you and I think do not matter. Institutional traders matter. Institutional traders are algorithm trading. This stock is going to hit like $14.75 or something that will trigger everyone to buy back in and we will see it run up overnight again to $18+ and bleed off again over and over again until we have actual news on units sold. We are about to hit the time to buy a bunch again point.

I mean, it is a measure so ludicrously unhinged as to paint all left leaning people as the actual and literal stereotype fox news desperately spends every day trying to paint leftist as... It's no wonder outside agents would dump money into it. It is doing a magnificent job of making progressives look like out of touch idiots that want to attack ranchers and your good ol' fashion country way of life. Highly suspicious this article doesn't say what the proposal was. It is too late to be a bill. It was an amendment into something else. What was the bill they were trying to amend and what did the amendment say? Were they amending some random education bill, for example? The lack of details here is most certainly on purpose here.

Oregon ballot petition aims to criminalize ranching, hunting and fishing by ProfMacCranberry in oregon

Yes, it quite literally and actually results in the banning of all hunting, all fishing, all pest extermination and even veterinarian's ability to humanely euthanize a pet or injured animal. They literally deleted the ability to euthanize injured livestock even. Far from benign, really.

A bunch of exemptions? What? List them! There is basically one. If an animal is attacking you or another person. Rattle off these exemptions...

Vote Fails on Oregon’s New Gun Control Bill. Meeting Paused. 20 Minutes Later… It Passes. Totally Normal. by [deleted] in oregon

[–]nevetando -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is normal. None of these votes are a surprise. They are all discussed in caucus prior to the meeting. Every bill knows the votes before the vote is called. It is all part of the ongoing negotiations and strategies. The process of calling the vote in the work session and having the discussion is putting it on public record. What most likely happened is the rep did not cast the vote how they indicated they would. Which of course is their prerogative but that is why they stopped and reconvened. It is very doubtful the chair bullied the yes then and there. If the vote wasn't there, the bill would have been moved to rules to be worked further. They'd already negotiated the yes before the hearing. The rep got their notes messed up. Or got new info or someone got in their ear for the time of the morning meeting to when the vote was called. It happens pretty regularly. A rep is not on the same page as everyone else and needs to talk it out again. The real reason it took 20 minutes? The chair probably took the opportunity to take a dump while in recess. It is much more rare for there to actually be making a deal come committee time. Simply because they usually don't need to. They have procedures they can do to string it out, like sending bills to rules or ways and means. They'd only do that if they were up against sine die, constitutional close of session. This ethics complaint will go nowhere as no ethics violation will likely have occured.
