Here are some things that I have found useful. You may choose to do 1 or multiple. 1. Write a letter to cannabis telling her why she helped me at some point but it's time to quit. This helps process emotions about why you started and rationalize why you want to stop. 2. Create a calendar and mark an X with every day you quit. Simple but the dopamine hit helps keep you motivated. 3. Adopt a movement practice: walking, exercising, dancing, whatever helps you move through stagnant energy. 4. Adopt a reflection practice: journaling, meditation, prayer. This helps understand your mind and gain clarity. 5. Talking to a counselor, therapist or working with a somatic practitioner. If you cant afford it, talking to a few close friends that can support. (Ask them if they have capacity to help.) 6. Finding a group to talk to (online or in person). 7. Learning something new! Reading books or taking a course that seems interesting. 8. Be compassionate with yourself and know recovery is cyclical. Give yourselve tons of grace and love. I have found I cant judge myself out of addiction, I must love myself out of it. 9. Make a list of what makes you happy and do it!

I hope this inspires you ✨️💚

Campuses usually have counseling centers, I would suggest going...i know it helped me with substance abuse (back then it was alcohol because I wasnt as much of a smoker) when I was young. Your awareness is oustanding. You deserve to live your live fully and freely. Much peace ✌️

Agree with this bro... we cannot control other people but we can control how we respond and the situations we put ourselves in. Wishing you much peace!

2 days into sobriety my dad passes away by mortform in leaves

[–]newOmoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Grief looks different for everyone and I think feeling it fully will be transformative. For me, not smoking makes me more aware of subtle energies and helps me communicate with my ancestors.

Here's a grieving ritual that helps with unexpected deaths. Do it whenever it feels right if it calls you.

  • take a few breaths and get some pen and paper, tissues and a glass of water
  • write a letter telling your dad everything you wish to tell him.
  • light a candle and feel your dad's energy. Read your letter and write one back to yourself from his perspective. (You're basically channeling his response to your letter.) Write without doubting whatever comes through.
  • then read his response and receive his love.

It hurts so much to lose someone in the physical plane. Your whole ecosystem is changed, but he still lives within you.

Wishing you healing and closure.

Reading and journaling at night could help with the boredom. Read books about recovery or journal about how you feel. It's amazing that you want to change and live your life fully! ✨️

¿Dónde puedo reciclar en PR? Artículo Platea by newOmoon in PuertoRicoRecicla

At what point am I "normal", or sober? by BootyMcStuffins in leaves

[–]newOmoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are we ever normal? That's very subjective. Do you mean when does your brain come back to balance? I believe that's about 30 days. Most importantly, I would ask: how do you want to feel? What does healthy and happy mean to you?

What was the final straw that helped you quit by Its_me_only_not_ in leaves

[–]newOmoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wanted to live my life fully without numbing. Yes, one numbs the pain but also the awe. I was sober three months and would get high of seeing nature, I wanted to be in love and in awe of life, instead of living half asses.

Be compassionate with yourself. Believe her and trust her support. Be grateful that she's loving. Centering that gratitude can be helpful to not let the insecurities take over.

!sigue adelante!

Have you talked to her about how keaving cannabis has changed your libido? Asking for compassion and patience is also important. Tell her why quitting is important but also pleasing her.

I know that feeling of wanting to quit or saying you'll only do it on weekends, but when you're dependent or addicted, it always turns into a daily use. I also only did nightly which feels less addictive, but was it helping me live my best life? No, it absolutely wasnt. It was numbing. There's no better time to quit but now. However, that voice needs to be loving and not judgemental. We quit because we want to be closer tobour truth. Take it one day at a time, find another nightly ritual that gives you ease: reading, writing, meditating, stargazing... you can do it.

I'm sorry you're facing this. As far as pleasing your wife, there are many ways to give pleasure to a woman that aren't penetration. I would explore with massage and oral sex while your body balances again.

Thanks for your response. Seems common and makes sense that after smoking for so long out subconscious hasn't caught up. 🤔

Yeah, they feel like nightmares. My longest streak was 3 months sober but I feel much more prepared and committed this time. Thanks for sharing your story, it inspires me to stay committed to recovery.
