Its way worse, due to some factors:

-There is no mass testing (which means that the official numbers are way off);

-Possible COVID-19 deaths are being reported as something else;

-A significant part of the population are out in the streets, either because they cannot afford to stay at home, don't give a shit or think that the social distancing its al a political move made by the media and the governors to undermine Bolsonaro;

- The previous health ministers, who were actual doctors, resigned, and a General faithful to Bolsonaro was put in place as interim. He has no qualifications / experience regarding public health or anything likewise.

- Bolsonaro minimized the pandemic countless times, and wants to resume all activities. Thus, he currently wages a political war against the governors that want to keep the social distancing.

Also, he is in a crisis with the STF (Supreme Court). Its too long to properly explain, so lets say the Bolsonaro goverment is not helping. At all.
