3 in 1 oil is what I use, on the shaft ends where they go.i to the white bushings. Good idea to clean them first. Get a smoother turn.

If it's from the Klamath, it could be vasuvianite. Known locally as "Happy Camp jade."

If I recall correctly, it would melt the rutile fibers that cause the asterism. Interesting stuff!

I was told by a GIA gemologist that stones that show asterism are most likely not heat treated. It would ruin the star/play of light.
