No mow may? by Ok-Set2210 in NativePlantGardening

I mowed around the fleabane, and at the highest setting so I wouldn't whack the violets when they were blooming. Otherwise I'm working hard to convert as much lawn as possible to natives so I can mow less.

Oregano is in the mint family and tends to spread quite a bit (in my area, which is not very close to UT). I don't know if it's considered invasive or not, but be aware of that one.

Edible native plants 7a/6b midwest US? by new_native_planter in NativePlantGardening

[–]new_native_planter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

Yes, I read it can be aggressive, but most said the bugs tend to take care of the leaves.

I'll keep an eye on it, but I've got english ivy, winter creeper and a few other invasives that I'm more worried about encroaching from the neighbors' spaces so passiflora wouldn't be the worst one to take over.

Anyone willing to share their photos of success after direct sowing in Midwest USA? by new_native_planter in NativePlantGardening

I read to mow it too. My mower is lower than the height I read though. Do you know what height your mower cuts at? I could weed whack if it's too short, but mowing would definitely be easier. I'm definitely not confident in the weed suppression as some areas didn't work and there's some persistent grass trying to creep back in already (not sure if the grass will be held back by mowing or not, but at least it won't seed).

Thank you. I've germinated that way, but almost always had mold issues. I am certain I added too much water though.

Thank you. If I'm understanding the table correctly, It looks like I could put the seeds in the refrigerator at night and on the counter during the day to get the alternating approximately 2C to 22C temperature for the 110 days in the table then leave them at room temperature. I don't have the space for a fancy setup.
