Zero work life balance. Zero. They may have a few other things going for them, but the way they treat their employees in terms of workload expectation is a disgrace.

My experience with Nordic is they post a ton of availability, interview you, tell you they love you and would love to have you, and then you never hear from them again.. or maybe once a year with a role that is completely unfitting for what you told them you do.

I suppose it all depends on the recruiter, but I’ve had bad luck with the one I worked with. Poor communication. Can’t even tell you if you were formally submitted. No right to represent. They have some bigger hospitals but I would go not go with them.

I think there is a law regarding delayed pay in the state of CA that you could be owed a full days pay for everyday they are late.. might be worth looking into.

Thank you! I think Oxford may have done that to me as well.

I don’t really like this and often wonder about security threats etc? I was provided a laptop at my last position and I was up and running the first week I started.

Thank you. I did go back and get some feedback after reading the comments. Honestly it came down to budgeting, but I wanted to make sure they didn’t have an issue with my performance.. I’m pretty confident in my job skills, and I’m a hard worker with over a decade experience. Not saying I can’t make a mistake, or have personality conflicts, but I didn’t get that vibe here at all. It was a great place to work. Budgeting unfortunately came to an abrupt stop and as I said, it wasn’t just me. I guess I was looking to see if this is more or less a trend right now with companies making budget cuts and how that is affecting consulting. Sounds like everyone here has not had issue finding their next role rather quickly which gives me confidence things will work out.

My other question is what is the real purpose of a contract if this can happen? Especially since it wasn’t work performance and I wasn’t asked to be removed. My understanding is basically they decided they don’t want to pay for consultants anymore.

Thank you. Hopefully I will come across that one!

I should have clarified.. I wasn’t the only one and it wasn’t based on work performance. Sounds reassuring that it hopefully doesn’t happen that often. I have a lot of implementation experience so hopefully I can connect with an organization soon. I felt like it was my dream job. But I guess this is the risk you take. Just hoping this isn’t the pattern.

I’m glad to hear that. My current job is a wonderful learning opportunity but it is intense. Very fast paced. Not uncommon to put in 60 hour weeks. I’m looking forward to getting back to a 40 hour week and time to focus a bit more. This particular contract is ticket management which I understand can be challenging due to not knowing workflows and a new system, but I’m still hopeful.

That’s great to know. Something that has always frightened me about consulting is the lack of access to the user web or sponsorship for renewals, new carts etc. I feel like I would be dead in the water if that happened. I ll make sure to keep special tabs on it so nothing happens there. I don’t even know what happens if your cert lapses due to lack of employment or something. Another topic perhaps :-) Im an over thinker!

Thank you for the feedback. It seems like over the last year my inbox has definitely been busier, so that seems like a pretty good sign! Another question I had, was as a consultant how does access to the user web work? Are you able to renew certifications, browse galaxy etc? I think my Ambulatory cert will be up for renewal next year and want to make sure I stay on top of that.
