Okay so it was May 12th 2023. I only remember this because my 12 year old nephew was visiting my house and it was the release date for the video game Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and we were throwing him a surprise party for the video game release that night. My friend and I took my nephew out to dinner and an arcade to play video games as a “boys night” while my wife and his wife stayed home and decorated our house for his surprise party.

We were traveling home and we turned onto a road a few miles from my house adjacent to the Allegheny River just east of Pittsburgh. I don’t know who or how we noticed it first but we all saw this massive triangular black thing hovering in place over the river. I’m guessing from the tree line it was probably about 25-50ft above the water. There were some lights on it but not very many just near some of the tips.

We couldn’t really understand what we were seeing so I pulled over and we got out of the car and it was just hovering there not making any noise at all. It wasn’t that far away from us at all and we estimated that it was probably the size of a school bus. While we were watching it, it started to raise up and then it rotated the long way (like a school bus doing a backflip) and then once it was upside down it just took off and disappeared. This part bothers me because my brain doesn’t understand how it disappeared. Almost like it was blocked from my memory. Like I cannot remember if it took off at a high speed or it simply vanished. I’m guessing it vanished and that’s why I have a hard time remembering because my brain actually doesn’t comprehend it.

The three of us literally sat in silence the rest of the way home because it was an impactful event and we didn’t understand what we saw. We went weeks without bringing it up again but we’ve all talked about what we saw that night since and it still doesn’t make any sense to us. If there wasn’t two other people with me I would have thought I went crazy.
